When Mayo Pete, Amy, etc dropped out of the race they were <2% in betting markets. They acted strategically and backed the candidate with a >2% chance that they agreed most with. Thankful that Bernie did the same thing yesterday. This wasn’t some grand conspiracy. Tho I’ll admit Biden hit a lucky parlay with Bloomberg taking heat + SC timing. But you have to get a little lucky to win these things.

Would love to reform both the EC and nomination process

Right but people dropping out when they can't win and their supporters moving to another candidate with whom they align isn't a conspiracy, it's just...how voting works.

My point is are you ****ing kidding me.

RT...you seem to know what's up. Numbers don't lie. Bernie killed in the first 3 states. S.C. was going to Biden regardless but he finished 4th, 5th, and a distant 2nd in the other three prior to Super Tuesday so how is it that Democratic voters wanted Biden again...that was my point.

You have idiots like Whoopi Goldberg basically asking him the other day why is he still in the race...how come the corp. media didn't ask Biden after Nevada why he's still in the race. Oh wait that's right...SOUTH CAROLINA...like that's going to swing the election in favor of Biden.

Couple things. First off, I'm not sure I've ever heard the "Red States shouldn't get to vote for the Dem. nominee" before. I have to admit it has a certain cold, soulless logic to it that kind of appeals to me, but it's also wildly impractical and more than a little bit racist, so that's gonna be a no from me dawg.

Second, even if you write off SC as a fluke, Bernie still has a decent lead and he's still doing well. Let's head to a state like MI, decently blue, decidely working class. Should be ripe for Bernie's message. He won it in 2016, yet he gets skunked in 2020. Surely even if you think SC shouldn't count, MI should right?

Ya it's almost like fighting against the media and the entire party bc your policies actually help the people instead of the corporate cartels is not a winning strategy. Shocker.

Here's the thing. Bernie's campaign was amazing to get there support it did given his enemies.

My point is S.C isn't winning a General for Dems. Not that the voters shouldn't vote in a primary...come on now. Also not sure how that's racist either. The DNC is citing Biden does well in the south because they believe the poll numbers back that up...which in comparison to Bernie it is true.

The reality is the DNC believes, like some centrists do, that because Biden does well in the south and that will translate well into the General Election. I just don't believe it to be true at all. The Corp Media leading up to it and after could do nothing but nutswing off of Biden further trying to push that narrative. Cited a million times that Obama won both times in S.C....so did Clinton...Bill that is not Hillary...and they again are pushing that forward. We'll see in a few months but I wouldn't bet on it.

All of that still doesn't change what happened the day before Super Tuesday. The obvious is obvious...DNC made Amy and Pete an offer they couldn't refuse...AND Bernie didn't do enough to adjust to the new reality.

Good point on MI and MA too if you want to throw that one in there. Imo MI is more of an indictment against Hillary more so than then Bernie not getting the message across. It's not like he changed his messaging in any aspect. It's probably just more people hated Hillary...she was favored to win in 16' and the media was OMFG BIGGEST UPSET EVAAAAA in MI.

MA I'm still shocked that Biden won it let alone Liz or Bernie not winning the state. Could still also be a Hillary vs Biden thing too...who knows

EDIT: Also you can throw in the Liz/Bernie splitting the vote regarding MA since she wasn't dropping out before MA.

H2H polls 7 months before an election are the definition of garbage.

There are like a handful of states that matter, running up the popular vote in Cali won't.

Biden does well in purple states too. 1/2 being a largely inoffensive white guy (to olds, who vote) and 1/2 not being Trump. EZ game.

vote by mail is being blocked during a time when a pandemic (and a SCOTUS full of Rs) is shutting down polling stations. if you're forced to vote in person, there's a certain demographic that tends to vote a certain way that is also at the top of the Covid risk list and may be more inclined to skip it.

Yeah except all the R voter olds still think this is no big deal and mostly a media attack on Trump.

there are two main contributing factors to the spread of Covid

1. how dense a population is
2. how dense a population is

We’ve got a lot of the second kind of density, especially in the South.

Assuming we're talking about unfettered spread (IE - no govt action) - I will grant you that is #1 with a bullet.

But I would also argue, based on reading about this 8 hours/day (down from 12!) that some or all of these can make a significant difference too:
  1. Prevalence of multi-generational households and tightly-bunched family household clusters
  2. Masks
  3. Temperature (doesn't mean it can't spread in hot/humid, but there's strong evidence to suggest it likes cold and dry)
  4. Agedness of population (at least for prevalence of people needing hospitals)
  5. Pollution
  6. Smoking prevalence
  7. Local customs (huggy Italians vs. bowing, clean-obsessed Japanese)
  8. Level of taking social distancing seriously
