demand. indeed. well considered

Working-class heroism sells, but who's buying?

I still think there is an untapped space for a bright, charismatic leftward alternative to Rush Limbaugh....our country's latest Medal of Freedom honoree

who just earlier today in a segment of his radio show was sharing with his audience how The Boy Scouts of America were intentionally destroyed.

Describing them as an organization without any history of sexual abuse or lawsuit until they were pressured to be inclusive of gays.

There's a robust demand for that.

I would argue there probably isn't as large a demand as you'd think.

The average left leaning person probably doesn't need hours and hours of affirmation or paranoid ramblings about how "conservatives are coming to get them" or whatever. They would seem more likely to grab a 15 minute John Oliver clip to go.

Maybe I'm wrong and BoTh SiDeS are equally terrible, but the need to be preached to for long periods of time daily and have your biases confirmed seems like a mostly conservative thing.

Either that or yet another vast conspiracy.
I dont think it's a problem at all for "the left" that the audience for something like Jon Stewart has splintered into Oliver/chapo/hayes/minaj/20 other different shows/podcasts. You dont need one behemoth ala Rush or Tucker.

There are so, so many more prominent leftist voices than 15 years ago during Iraq. Total non problem. MSNBC sucks but someone like Chris Hayes would never have a show 15 years ago.

Maybe I'm wrong, but offering Jon Stewart as the most prominent leftward voice of the last generation supports my POV.

He's been replaced by a cottage industry of impotent, hipster reactionaries that no one but the most politically curious know about.

I think you're wildly overrating old media. If you put somebody "big" on MSNBC they don't have the audience Joe Rogan does.

The most popular show on Fox doesn't do numbers that podcasts do these days and basically no one under 40 watches cable news.

Not sure where Glaude was registered in 2016, but he teaches at Princeton. Clinton won NJ 55.5 to 41.35%.

I think I initially said 'advocate.' And there's definitely no make-left-wing-advocacy-great-again going on here, as I'm an old in this forum, and in my lifetime the left has sat idly by and offered almost zero defense of their ideas.

So maybe they could emerge from a Rogan-type platform.

but a serious voice or chorus best come quick, followed by meaningful action.

I'm confused, you said the same thing I said like 3 posts ago. Did you mean to quote Schlitz?

It's going to be harder to be "as popular" on the left when there are way more sources. It's the same reason Trump can raise $46M in 4Q and crush every Dem, because he's got no competition.

ya there aren't really any real lefty/progressive ppl in big media

stewart, colbert, bee, oliver, hayes, maddow, etc are all pretty middling status quo libs

how many of them ever advocate for anything even mildly progressive? rarely
have any of them endorsed bernie? doubt it

chapo, tyt, etc are pretty fringe
what % of ppl even know what they are?
compared to like, the entire rest of the machine that is extreme right-wing or centrist lib
like all of cnn and most and msnbc don't even try to hide their hostility toward bern
fun fact: libs & left are different things

anyway, must be due to no demand, i say
now to take a big sip of coffee and check out bernie's poll numbers
(or say gnd polling at like 90% support in nevada, weird only 1 guy is even kinda talking about that, and every control room pushes the panic button whenever anyone tries, for example)

There are literally zero barriers to entry. Any douche can get 100M followers on social media sites. If there was a demand for a point of view, there would be a person, or people, filling it.

It's not that there isnt demand, there just isnt a monoculture anymore. Closest thing the last decade had was avengers and game of thrones. MCU only required 4-6 hours of your attention a year, GOT was like 10.

There are far fewer barriers.

I mean, look at Billie Eilish in the music game. Her 'artistic process' is total chance(she and her brother in their room. oh look, that amp fell over and is emitting a different sound) and her personality fluctuates between childishness and cultural appropriation/affectation.

2 years tops and she's forgotten.

wow. I'm an angry old ahole.. but I digress.

The savior could emerge from a similar DIY accessibility to technology and wouldn't even need to be American.

Olbermann could've been huge, but for his self-destructive demons. He could've been a massive multi-media presence.

its hilarious to watch old school Republicans like domer masquerade as idPpol Dems bc they have no clue what the citizenry needs but are just upset that the right is giving up the game by saying the quiet parts loud and dont want the guilt by association.

This morning on CNN, @BernieSanders Spox @briebriejoy said that Bloomberg “suffered a heart attack in the past.”
As far as anyone is able to tell, she completely made this up.

Looks like Bernie has his own Stephanie Grisham!

edit: Lol looks like she said heart attacks, plural:
