they supposedly had their own app & thus have their own count, and i would assume had ppl at every precinct, so they must have numbers that are ~99% accurate, just tweet it out

That's true, but the candidate to whom they're pledged has the right to remove and replace any pledged delegates they feel won't be loyal. Feels like a decent safeguard.

...it's literally just having a representative vote for you. It's the system we use for almost everything else.

We can't just have a vote tally because the possibility for a brokered convention still exists and we need actual people that can make decisions. Ranked choice doesn't really work because that situation would be dynamic.

Superdelegates are a very stupid system, but that's an entirely different thing.
