Looking like Trump might be impeached for this Ukraine phone call (and there might be more to it than that in the IG report). Impeachment looking likelier despite Pelosi's best efforts to cower in a corner and do nothing.

Politico Playbook basically implied that if the IG report isn't released within a week, they'll impeach.

Here's the other thing: if the IG report is released....think a strong chance they impeach in that instance, too.

Trump has all but admitted to the facts of the situation, and it seems like a pretty straight forward impeachment if what is being reported is accurate. Whether the clowns in the Senate acquit him or not should be a moot point for the Democrats in the House, but we'll see how Pelosi proceeds.

We're also in a spot where the frontrunner for the Dem nomination (Warren) has all but called Pelosi useless, and even dropped a bomb on her head in a statement a couple days ago: "By failing to act, Congress is complicit in Trump’s latest attempt to solicit foreign interference to aid him in US elections."

Trump has always been pretty stupid and up front about his shenanigans but he seems to be getting even bolder in how he admits to what he and his administration are doing. He appears to really believe he's completely immune from any consequences no matter what he does. I guess he's got reason to feel that way given how he's lived 70+ years on this earth without facing any consequences so far.

I seriously can't believe or understand whatever it is Pelosi is doing.

Yay we got another female minority to head the DNC, but she's ****ing up just like Brazile. Get the best person for the job, who can beat Trump and take back the Senate, regardless of race or gender.

Dam may break tomorrow afternoon. 2 close Pelosi allies just came out in favor of impeachment along with 2 more freshmen in vulnerable seats. I think that is 5 switches so far today.

Politico just reported there will be a 4pm Dem caucus meeting to discuss where they stand on impeachment, with people close to Pelosi implying she will move a lot closer to it, if not outright endorse it.

I actually trust Pelosi's judgment on this. Super duper hot take I know.

I think the Kavanaugh hearings hurt Dems and riled up the R base. And nothing happened. He still got confirmed, just a week or two later. Oh he's tainted now. Great.

Impeachment will be that on steroids and it will get a ton of lefties fired up that something is going to actually happen when of course - nothing will happen. People will refuse to testify and nothing will happen. They'll lie to congress with no consequences. And then everyone will be deflated on the left while the R base will be ready to shoot people in the streets. Just in time for the election.

And then everyone on here will blame Pelosi's big blunder. They'll say she executed it poorly or something - when nothing happening but a lot of sound and fury was always going to be the outcome. It will feel amazing and cathartic in the moment and ultimately end in disaster. Unlike FoxNews and every Benghazi hearing - the MSM won't just pretend it never happened. They'll be ruthless.

Buncha privates grousing about generals' decisions when they don't have the big picture or access to a ton of information imo. Trump wants impeachment. He's begging for it. That should give one pause.

I'll show myself out.

"he can't keep getting away with this" etc but i feel like impeachment prob will work either way, one bc his ~41% firewall seems to be breaking anyway, but also bc it's almost impossible for the msm to both sides ppl just laying out all his crimes etc. and i feel like when that kind of thing has happened so far, it has actually hurt him. which is why he always picks a fight with some rando to get it back into the reality tv realm, or does something fash so we get FULL both-sidesism instead.

speaking of which, impeachment will force everyone to pick a side, not just "James".

The Kavanaugh hearings got a lot of low-info people on both sides riled up. Everyone was talking about it everywhere you went. I'm not convinced that was best for the Ds at all.

Impeachment will be that times 20. Also a lot of low-info liberals won't understand that it is basically all for show.

I dunno, I could be wrong.

But what I'm saying is I trust Pelosi is doing what she thinks makes the most sense from a strategy POV. I don't think she's dumb, or scared. I think it's very possible they did some internal polling that really scared them off of another Kavanaugh.

All the stupid ass white people getting riled up by right wing propaganda are 100% to vote.

Left leaning (younger and black) people are not 100% to vote and just give up (rationally) when feckless losers capitulate and don’t fight. Why show up to vote for the letter writing deeply concerned crowd?

So we have to contrive something less offensive and not impeach the most clearly criminal POS President this country will ever know, so we can court some undecided idiots that were riled up over some he-said/she-said bullsh*t. I'm all for propaganda, but whatever this kinder/ gentler bs is, I don't see it. I believe the Dems have gotten destroyed in that arena(propaganda) for decades, and it may be the #1 reason we're losing elections.

if we lose we lose.

the repubs pimped jackass Trump and won, yet we have to be so supremely calculated in every action

just gotta hope there are more sane people ready to act

eta: @ Suz.. yup internal polling, focus-group approved. The ol' playbook that's worked wonders.

So there's a huge liberal bloc of voters laying in the weeds like a guerilla army, just waiting to let slip the dogs of democracy, but they won't get out of bed for anything less than Liz/Bernie?

Man, kind seems like they're either really dumb or don't exist.

That is poetry. Well written.

The reality is, there's an army of idiot mercenaries out there waiting to be sold by the better marketing campaign. But it's too exhausting to even contemplate.

Yeah - it's called millennials and Gen Z. Get them off to the polls at even half of Boomer voting %s and Rs don't stand a chance.

It's not even that exhausting. We lost by 77,000 votes in 2016. Hillary got roughly the same number of votes as Obama in 2012 (65.8M to 65.9M respectively). Trump got 2 million more votes than Romney got in 2012 (62.9M to 60.9M, respectively).

Make your own mental pie chart of how many of that 2M voted for Trump and how many voted against Hillary. If the "against Hillary" piece is even 4% (80,000 votes), then we picked the wrong candidate.

[Yes, obviously it's more complicated. The system is rigged, states matter. No one gives a **** about Wyoming, etc. etc.]

Our guys are going to vote for us. Their guys are going to vote for them. Either find a way to make the mercs like our guy, or find a guy that doesn't piss the mercs off enough to vote for the other guy. Ez game.

Do not make the same mistake again of picking the most "electable". Pick the candidate that lights your fire, like Trump voters did, and let the chips fall where they may.

Biden is just another corporate autocrat like Hillary with no message. He's not getting anyone out to the polls who wasn't already voting. 2020 can't be just Never Trump or he wins again easily.

Millennials know they're getting the raw end of the stick right now. They know their future is being sold out. Status quo is not a winning message.
