With the exception of the subpoena power, these are so goddamn big. Being able to control redisteicting after the 2020 census is a massive win for the non-nazi sympathizers here.

Ezra Klein @ezraklein

NYT is projecting Democrats win a ~9% margin in the House popular vote. The last time we saw a margin like that was 08, amidst a collapsing economy and a loathed war.

Unemployment is 3.7% right now. America isn't at war. A margin this big is nuts — a pure repudiation of Trump.
deplorables still loving the racism etc is gross

maybe it'll change if they feel the full effects of health care costs / poor wages / trade wars / etc in the next 2 years

of course he has something to blame now ... hopefully he doesn't last the 2 years tho

Best thing will be a small recession caused by the already unpopular tax cuts. That will absolutely erode independents support. Tariffs continuing to buttock farmers paired with Dems holding the purse strings and refusing to pass bailouts will also help is the play it right (lol)

Sam Wang @SamWangPhD

The NYT currently projects a national popular-vote margin of D+9.2%. For comparison, the last five largest margins, considered wave elections:

1994: R+7.1%
2006: D+8.0%
2008: D+10.6%
2010: R+7.2%
2014: R+5.7%

By historical standards, it's a popular wave.

Pleasantly surprised that we apparently still have legitimate elections in this country (except for Georgia).

Dems crushed MN, Sen. (SE) and Gov.

Time to run up the score in the House.

We'll have time for a deep dive when the dust settles but it's crazy how everyone dug in. The coasts the IL, MN, WI, CO and maybe NV went way more blue and Trump country (the South, FL, IN, and apparently OH) went much further Red.

Really happy for Kansans. Hope Paul Davis holds on but governor and house seat is awesome. Have no optimism on mccaskill. Most pissed I am tonight is about Florida. If Gillum can’t win then this state is just a POS state I’m writing off for the immediate future with a bunch of rich geriatrics...but it can change quickly. Kansas under brownback and Oklahoma under fallin being the two obvious exampl s to me. After initial **** my pants feeling early I will twk the result but I
Hab the suspicion that being ****ed in rural areas everywhere is going to kill dems for a minute with no real chance to alleviate that except for some **** form
of accelerationism heightens the goddamn contradictions when these imbeciles vote for kit Rockefeller the 14th as governor

Dems are leading or won all statewide races except Governor in Ohio. The House districts are brutally gerrymandered.

We lost FL this time, but that amendment to allow felons to vote seems like great news for our chances to turn it Blue in 2020.

Mccaskill is getting crushed this state is done for the foreseeable future. Hawley is a limp dicked robot but he didn’t make any key gaffes despite being a lazy and uncharismstic campaigner and that’s all it takes now. Maybe a decade of republicans winning elections then kander can win a seat. Glad our ****ty state counts as much as everyone else!

And Paul Davis about to lose in Kansas after looking good early. Goddamnit

Kander lost his senate race in 16 so yeah I agree here.

D's actually did fine tonight, they win POTUS with this outcome in 2020. barely, and I am assuming congressional races = pres not gov ones). Took the house.

Got wrecked in the senate though. Will be very tough to get back control of the senate before like 2024.

....unbelievably lucky to have him and I’m just awed at how well they’ve done. It’s all the Trump magic - Trump is the magic man. Incredible, he’s got the entire media against him, attacking him every day, and he pulls out these enormous wins.” Ben Stein, “The Capitalist Code”
1. this is actually pretty solid trolling from which ever staffer tweeted this out, given that the Dems got 9MM more Senate votes tonight en route to losing 4 seats #justhavinfunoutthere
