We know why. That’s the point of the whole issue

Starbucks not firing manager in question.

I mean, how hard is it to say "that guy ****ed up, it's one dumb guy in our massive company, we're sending him to counseling and donating some money to charity xyz?"

Maybe that was said but it doesn't matter. Starbucks is not like other restaurants and they're known for people hanging out there to use the WiFi or meetings without buying anything. If this happened at most any other business or restaurant this is a nonstory. Unless there's some audio/visual evidence to prove they were being lowlifes those guys are gonna get paid and deserve every penny they get.

Yeah, IANAL and I don't know what the relevant laws are but if these two dudes lawyer up, I'm sure their attorneys can find dozens of people who went to that exact starbucks and sat there for hours without buying anything and even got a bathroom code.

FFS, there were a couple of such people there at the exact same. What defense could Starbucks possibly have? Especially since at this point there is no evidence of those dudes doing anything other than sitting there.

You still think that "Starbucks" is acting fine after this:

I’ll go with this

If you’re going to call a black person the n word you deserve absolutely everything that comes to you in response. And I say that knowing this kid might have been paralyzed or worse. And if that happened, good

Also remember Starbucks’ moronic race together campaign a couple years back where they wanted baristas to spark up conversations about equality?

Good times

I think this is a little too extreme for me, while I agree with the general sentiment. I'd probably have to look at each instance on a case by case basis.

In this case, I just don't have enough yet to say one way or another, but if all the twitter comments regarding the lead up to the fight (which aren't in any of the news reports) are accurate, then I certainly wouldn't go after the kid they way they are now.

In the immortal words of Al Sharpton, "'Sensitivity training'?!?!? They shoved a broom handle up a man's rectum! Ain't no sensitivity training gonna' fix that--you just need to get rid of the psychos on the NYPD!"

Seeing as white people can apparently shoot black people for any reason, imagined or not, im ok with a black kid knocking a racist POS the **** out.

The only defense I can think of which makes sense considering upper management for now at least is backing up their employee is that one or both of these guys had already been banned from the location for a documented reason. If that is the case then the cops getting called despite these guys doing nothing is standard. That documented reason better be really legit though.

Meh. Every time I’ve been called sandn—- or some equivalent the only thing stopping me from getting violent is knowing I may go to jail for it. I have no problem at all with a racist thinking he can be racist with impunity being baptized with fists

And if the racist is paralyzed or killed, well, one less racist in the world, big loss

I'm with you, but I'm sure I could construct some sort of weird edge cases where I wouldn't be OK with it. I'm sure I'd be fine with it at least 95% of the time. Probably more than that.

He doesn't have to be either a hero or a villain. The Clinton thing was stupid but I have done things in my life that were on a similar level of stupid, his was just a lot more consequential. One decision doesn't define a person just because it helped get Trump elected. I mean also helping to get Trump elected was everyone who decided it would be a good idea to run HilWOAT as a candidate. As far as figures in American political life go, Comey is easily in the top 50%, which is more an indictment of the quality of public figures than anything.
