This led me to read about Pelosi a little, which led to discovering in 1996 there was some balanced budget amendment that almost passed (seems like it would have been terrible and she was on the right side) and that around the same time Republicans were trying to pass term limits and that SCOTUS overturned term limits that states had put on their own Representatives.

I kind of assumed the conservative side overturned but looks like it was the liberal (if you believe in that divide).

People ain't gonna march for gerrymandering was the point I was trying to make. For starters it's a god awful rallying cry much less the part of how hard it'd be to get most people to care.

wheatrich, I think you are smarter than this. its not the gerrymandering that is the issue. its the impeaching and removal of judges. its pretty bad for democracy is the point that meb is making.

At this point I don't believe a majority of people in this country want anything close to a democracy (dunno what stats say atm) and it seems like that's getting worse every day. The constant hatred from "entertainment" sources has won and we're all worse off for it.

I wish people would know more but they won't as it's not like Fox News is gonna say anything other than "and they deserved it!" if that and places like CNN would just label it as a normal dispute that both sides have merit or some bull****.

Most people don't understand it's hard to get back what you've lost. We've all changed in the last few years and will continue to and none of it for the better. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself but I've definitely started caring a lot less about everything.
