The republican base clearly just believes all the lies, and counter-evidence only makes them dig in. In general, the dems can't seem to get the voters to punish all the lying.

How do you combat an political opponent who will just shamelessly lie about whatever is happening?
"Get absolutely wrecked in a huge, stupid war" is the most common way out, no?

I would rather protect illegals than fund the military.

Since the voters won't punish lying Republicans, Democrats should make plans for retribution and look for ways to punish voters who don't punish lying Republicans. Republicans have continually targeted Democratic constituencies. Democrats should adopt a "tit for tat" mentality.

During bipartisan talks between senators to discuss passing a funding bill to end the government shutdown, Sen. Susan Collins whose office was being used for the negotiations, figured out a civil way to create discussion.

Collins, R-Maine, introduced her fellow colleagues to using a talking stick during discussions, multiple senators told CNN.

Whoever was holding the stick was the only senator allowed to talk -- to prevent cross-talking.
I look forward to the next negotiations being interrupted by naptime

anyone else annoyed by the evolution of Pod Save America/Keeping it 1600? imo it has gone from something enjoyable, informative, and fresh to something that is often borderline unlisten-able

Was just thinking that yesterday.. they were coming off as particularly angry/venting rather than lending any real insight.

Yesterday was personal since they were arguably the reason the shutdown happened.

Other than that, I am not quite as interested as I was before but think that is because we are in a dead period where there is not really any clear-cut high-value things we can do right now like an imminent election or opposing major R legislation.

Also, it is natural that they won't feel fresh when they aren't anymore and that their perspectives that were informative before will just be things that are obvious to us now since we have heard them so many times.

True that. Think the 538 crew (podcast) usually has a good slew of information that I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise. Haven't branched out much further other than that

Another high school shooting, this time Marshall County, Kentucky.

Only 2 dead and 17 injured, yawn.

15-year old shooter was apprehended alive

Name hasn't been released but I'm presuming it's a white kid

NFL rejected a #PleaseStand ad campaign that a vet lobbying group wanted to put in the printed programs. NFL counter with "please honor our veterans" type language but the lobbying firm refused. If you want to see true derangement pop over to fox news facebook story of it. quite the interesting comment section.

Patience is a virtue.

But seriously I trust Schumer is playing some 14d chess and will be able to outwit Mitch.

It doesn't even matter if Schumer can outwit Mitch. Without a veto proof majority in both chambers nothing is getting done on DACA.

Jason Kander has a new-ish podcast (2 months old?) called Majority 54 through Crooked Media that's worth listening to, this guy seriously needs to be president someday

Haven't checked that one out, honestly because I thought PSA is too rah-rah-go-dems (even though I listen to every episode), but will now go check out their other pods in spite of my boredom with PSA. Thanks

Was a thing I saw said recently. Is it possible to misunderstand anything more than this man misunderstood 1984?

Not often do I get got by stupidity but I’ve been whiteguyblinking.gif for like 10 minutes.
