Huge, if true.

I'll actually look later, but that would be absolutely hilarious. By the way, as I've posted about before, most meaningful (i.e., large) American corporations pay less than 20% anyway - the whole ruse of corporate tax reduction is built on the fake premise that corporations pay the "highest rates in the first world." That ruse is based upon the fiction that the rates are the rates, when the reality is that deductions, loopholes, offshoring and standard tax planning cause corporate tax rates to plummet - sometimes literally to 0, resulting in the AMT being paid if the entity has exposure, which itself can be avoided.

Re-instituting a 20% corporate AMT would, hilariously, functionally raise corporate taxes on most meaningful tax-paying corporations, thereby undoing the cut.

Appears corporate AMT provision probably raises >$300B, not $40B JCT estimated under duress Fri night. This means Rs have to take Senate bill to conference and can’t just have House pass it, unless they want to *really* piss off bus community. 1/5

This situation is so bonkers. The folks writing this bill likely made a several hundred-billion dollar mistake in their rush to pass something on Friday.

I think my "Corporate tax rate will not be cut before 12/31/2017" shares are still live! Not so sure about my "before 3/31/2018" shares.

I think the biggest risk was that the house was simply vote on the Senate bill, without going through reconciliation. If Republicans truly thought that the Senate bill was decent, I think that was absolutely the best strategy. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I think there's a good chance reconciliation is going to fail.

Yeah, it was democratic policy to make a prosecutor try a case for first degree murder when anything above manslaughter was basically impossible.

All he wants is a typical liberal response. If he actually cared about being dunked on, he wouldn't be posting like this. He wants to see the usual liberal dunks to confirm that he'd know the liberals were thinking. Fly was at least relatively novel in his assessment of mbp.

really is a shame that so many are brainwashed by partisanship that they cannot even be engaged with on any level

From all the analysis I've seen in other places, it appears to be correct that the GOP ****ed the dog on this one big time. I think that if they hadn't ****ed this up, the House would have likely passed the Senate bill by now and avoided GOP Senators having buyer's remorse.

Being Republican really is a stupid filter. Even for the congressional staff. Guess it usually doesn't matter when you're just trying to burn everything down.

At this point, if you are a GOPer, you are either evil, stupid or (most commonly) both. It's that simple.

It's turning into quite a show and I love it.

Even if AMT issue is "fixed," however you define that, the House is in danger of losing every GOP vote from CA, NY, and NJ over SALT deductions.

14 from CA + 9 from NY + 5 from NJ + 193 Democrats = 221

218 needed to pass. Hmmm...

They may fall in line but they're already at risk (most of them anyway) of losing their seats in 2018 and this is only going to make it worse.

"My opponent voted to raise your taxes. My opponent's part seated a pedophile to the US Senate." The ads will write themselves.
