These are all subjective of course but by most objective, reasonable metrics I think it's false. It's definitely false based on my life experience.

Just to add color, the smartest person I know is a Trump voter. I just find it impossible to believe every DACAer is like an MIT grad paying tons and tons of taxes.

Edit: looks like mullens post adds some color on what average DACAer intelligence/worth to country are.

https://www.cato.org/blog/economic-f...repealing-daca

"Donald Trump has proposed eliminating or severely modifying the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Many Americans believe that the presence of unauthorized immigrants is harmful to the economy and would like to see steps taken to reduce their presence. However, a repeal or roll-back of DACA would harm the economy and cost the U.S. government a significant amount of lost tax revenue. We estimate that the fiscal cost of immediately deporting the approximately 750,000 people currently in the DACA program would be over $60 billion to the federal government along with a $280 billion reduction in economic growth over the next decade."

"The average DACA recipient is 22 years old, employed, and earns about $17 an hour. The majority are still students and 17 percent are pursuing an advanced degree."

#MAGA

Defending this action by Trump shows a severe lack of understanding of its effects, or a callous adherence to THE RULE OF LAW. Either way I can't understand defending this. Do you understand disko that these people that will be deported are just as much an American as you or I? They've don't even remember any other country. You aren't going to #MAGA by kicking out people who both contribute to our economy in a positive way and really care about this country and the opportunities it is giving them.

Seems like a lame bluff by Trump, he isn't gonna deport these people and there is mostly bi-partisan support for DACA.

He probably just didn't know what to do and was hoping Congress could bail him out.

Same pattern as w/ACA.

1. Undo Obama stuff
2. Tell Congress to solve it
3. ?????
4. DRAIN THE SWAMP

its not a bluff. its already been established.

and trump will not be the one enforcing it or having any say in its enforcement. that would be ICE and some other immigration related authorities and judges and they have already been shown to be callous and downright evil when dealing with these cases.

I often think about the kind of people who sign up to be ICE agents or whatever.

Job description: tear families apart, ruin lives.

Who the **** signs up for that?

Wow, the more people in a country working means gdp will be higher in that country. And the study is basically just 750k people x 37k a year x 10 year, then how much in taxes they would pay on that. Crazy analysis.

Highly doubt anyone arguing against DACA strictly from a $$ standpoint is also a socialist who wants to blow up the big banks

The main argument would be the morality of tearing apart thousands of families of young hardworking students/taxpayers because ????????????

I think the reasoning is something like voting citizens of the electorate don't want them here (at least in some states) and they have no political right to be here, and if we believe in democracy, the nation state, voting rights, and the will of the people then maybe we should follow through.

I agree it's a bit callous.

Ha, that's funny, someone else I know said basically the same.

Maybe they aren't, I just know a few in here make the GDP argument which I think is basically irrelevant to the discussion. True leftists don't believe in borders or immigration policy I think, but I'm guessing most in this thread do to varying degrees.
