This season of America > Season 4 of the wire > final season of breaking bad > 1st season of True Detective

So many twists and turns, amazing character development, thematic depth, foreshadowing, even the fanfiction is great. The only thing missing is a great score.

Alec Baldwin in GGR made 950k a year. MOOCH would laugh him out of the room.

Yesterday was the last day they were in session until sept iirc. McCain is 2/1 to still be alive by then.

but his yes vote on the bill to start the whole thing was apparently some huge break in procedure

guessing he doesn't have reasons that make any real sense, he's just a dying old man who wants to yell at some clouds before he goes, and make some speeches that cement his MAVERICK legacy

How many times are you going to fall for the same trick? Yeah, just turn it over to Paul Ryan's control and he certainly won't do anything reckless or nonsensical like...pass the bill so they can say they've "done something".

Really weird reading through Twitter comments on pages of GOP Senators who voted no.

Lots of thank you posts for their votes. These posts are almost always made by people using actual names and photos of themselves on their Twitter handle.

Minority of posts very upset and calling these senators traitors and for them to be run out of office. These posts are almost always made by fake names revolving around Trump and other conservative memes and not using photos of themselves on their twitter handle.

Is this the bot army or just people hiding behind fake names?

Obviously bot army. The bot army makes up a huge portion of tweets and comment sections.

dunno but i always assumed that Robert D. Smith of Jacksonville, Fl is actually some guy named Andrei from Krasnoyarsk, while @PATRIOT4JESUSANDTRUMP (profile photo of an assault weapon on an american flag background) is a mentally ill person from Jacksonville, Fl

would be way less shocking than President Donny D. Drumpf or Senator Kid Rock

it's ironic you're asking me this after last night, of all nights. these guys are scumbags but that doesn't mean there aren't lines that can't be crossed. IMO, anyways!

ultimately they are out for their own self interests and often it only takes a few guys to bring the entire show to a grinding stop

also, this thread was largely full of people sure Obamacares destruction was pending, and nothing has happened, and at this point is unlikely to happen anytime soon, so I don't think I'm the one who keeps falling for the same tricks. everybody is lost but me!

I still think even if McCain votes yes, Ryan takes it to conference {maybe bc he has to bc the Freedom Caucus wants more, maybe bc he doesn't want to wage war within his own party} and this thing dies in conference. Even if Ryan betrays him, the "Skinny Repeal" was a sizable retreat from the original House bill, another thing which was always likely

It was an insanely terrible bill that was so bad the Senate was explicitly counting on the House to not pass as-is, despite no promises to that effect and their already demonstrated need to pass something, anything. It came down to the deciding vote of an angry coot with a brain tumor. Maybe he takes a different med yesterday and the bill passes, but I'm glad for you feel reassured.

And I wasn't one who said it was 100% to pass--actually my motto is "Nothing is 100%." Go ahead, ask me if the sun will come up tomorrow.

Spoiler:
probably

meh, I think the point is that it wasn't even a real bill for the reasons you state. people were voting Yes to kick the can down the road (just like they did on Tuesday) not bc they liked the bill or thought it would become law.

I think if McCain didn't put an end to it then the Freedom Caucus would have, bc it's way different than what they agreed to.

this is way too results-oriented for this forum

I wonder if it was really just one vote from passing or if it had zero chance and McCain was selected/volunteered to be the "maverick" who killed it with 5-10+ GOP senators breathing a sigh of relief.

I get the feeling Turtle is playing a losing game of whack-a-mole.

Dems + FC combined are outnumbered by R's in the house.

There's some bot stuff going on but also conservatives from the internet see themselves as a victimised minority (like everyone else I suppose) and don't want to take risks when spouting off their vile opinions in anything that can be searchable. So some of them are real is my guess.
