I thought it was kinda rude to mention he would appoint the new one and the senate would do their duty in a "timely" fashion.

I don't know, but Trump deserves one. Jeb Bush has also been great as the punching-bag foil to Trump's bullying bluster-- it's a thankless role that's less showy, but absolutely vital to the show's dynamic. Nevertheless, I think my favorite exchange of the night was between Ted Cruz and Trump:

Cruz: Donald, adults learn not to interrupt each other.
Trump: Oh, yeah, you're an adult. You're an adult.

Cruz and Rubio aren't convincing performers, but that oddly makes them suited to their roles in this miniseries. They'll have to develop Droopy Dog and Huckleberry Hound as characters more before I can form an opinion on those performances.

I should mention that the audience was a particular highlight of this debate, particularly when they booed Trump for saying things like "George W. Bush was president when 9/11 happened" and "We went to war in Iraq on a lie."

I have to admit that Kasich has done a pretty good job positioning himself as the candidate of reasonableness and positivity. Which is straight out of W's playbook. And it terrifies me, because if he's successful, he could actually get some extreme right-wing goals accomplished in office.

On a side note, I have a sneaking suspicion the establishment wants Cruz to defeat Trump for the wingnut support, and then once Trump has dropped out, have the Senate move to declare that Cruz is not a natural-born citizen.

Here's some of that good Marco Rubio ****:

Quote:
"We are going to re-embrace free enterprise . . . we are going to be a country that says that life begins at conception and life is worthy of the protection of our laws. We are going to be a country that says that marriage is between one man and one woman. And we are going to be a country that says the Constitution and the rights that it talks about do not come from our President, they come from our creator."
Word, word. Word.

I'd move, probably.

What do you mean so what? The people who were better off gave a ****. The people who werent spending 80% of their waking hours earning the equivalent of their daily food gave a ****. The people who could reasonably expect to see most of their children grow up to have children gave a ****.

Honestly, your argument is pretty depressing to me. It essentially invalidates all progress. I mean, after all, if tomorrow we cured cancer, developed interstellar travel, wiped out hunger and eliminated hatred....I mean, who gives a ****? Elroy has a cooler robot maid than I do!

that'd all be great

but if we cured cancer etc and only the top 0.01% wealth bracket had access to it i'd be pretty miffed

i mean my life wouldn't be any worse but i'd still be annoyed

Progress is great. The problem is when it disproportionately benefits one group.

Says you. How much of a "problem" that is is certainly debatable, and if anything is relative, that sure is. Talk about ****ing first world problems, we cant worry about resources because we have too many, we cant worry about basic necessities or freedom or safety because we are drowning in all of them, so now we need something to chicken little about, and its this.

But that isnt exactly the argument you made before. The argument you made before suggested that you wouldnt give a **** if nuclear apocalypse happened tomorrow as long as the bottle cap distribution was more equitable.

Right but that is precisely what is NOT happening. The analogy you mean is if we cured cancer tomorrow, everyone got as many cures as they needed, but rich people got a bunch of extra vials of the cure to swim around in and rub on their titties.

Last sentence is about right except replace "wouldn't be any worse" with "would be unimaginably better"
