Like, wait, what is the takeaway here? Given your (incorrect) assumptions, you had correctly determined which candidate had the highest expected payoff a priori with the available information. So your thought process is solid, just got unlucky. This isn't some kind of epiphany or admission of error, it's just a bad beat post.

Ok I think enough people have piled on with "I told you so's" to a very reasonable post that reflects the Per-election thoughts of a lot of the country.

As a Trump voter who is not caving under all these leftists freaking out, what I have seen is how little people paid attention/cared what Obama did.

Fwiw I tried to go beyond that, and illustrate one of the biggest problems I see in today's electorate. Specifically, that's assuming that more knowledge equals less common sense.

People did a great job obstructing Obama.

They're doing a poor job obstructing Trump.

Also, very few posters itt are leftist. Most are a mix of liberal and libertarian. Just like real life, although with a bit higher concentration here.

This is just such a dishonest false equivalency that I assume you aren't even paying attention to what's going on and are still in "my team won, suckers" LA LA land

Nope, I think you guys are showing more rage over a temporary ban from some countries(that Obama administration selected), than you reacted when Obama drone striked a US citizen.

I think you've never shown an ability to understand context, in any post you've ever made on this site.

Have a good day, man. Good luck to you.

Ya the context is we have been at war since 9/11 with random Middle Eastern countries based on "regime change" without a clear idea of how to actually help people in a oppressed country other than to drone strike.

Seeing a lot of glee in Trumpkin camps lately. They seem to agree with every idiotic thing coming out of this administration and the "liberal years" just makes it better for them.
What a ****ing cluster of atrocious human beings.

I've read all your thoughts on this itt and if you covered it I missed it so apologies in advance: Prosecutors from the city to the federal level decline to prosecute or even send cases to grand juries every day in this country, and rarely are they criticized for "betraying their clients." I mean yeah it happens but it is EXCEEDINGLY rare. How is what she did different from that?

I mean, I'm fine with her being fired, I'm just not buying the HORROR being sold itt and elsewhere regarding the stand she took.

Re: SE Hoya Containment Thread (aka Politics)

letsgambool,

one of the biggest services that you could do right now is to help others who thought like you understand they are wrong. There are still VERY few people who were either on the fence or voting for Trump that will admit that anything he is doing is wrong.

One of Trump's personality traits is that he never admits that he is wrong and also has low enough self-confidence that he is easily shaken when people defy him or tell him he is wrong or can't do something. Many Trump supporters have these same personality traits in which they really think it devalues them as a person to admit that they were wrong. They think being wrong is a personal failure and will show them to be weak and helpless which is the last way they want to think of themselves. We all know intellectually that being wrong is something that happens, but we all like to think we are wrong less than we actually are. Admitting when you make a mistake and learning from it rather than denying it goes a long way to self-improvement and making the world a better place.

This is unlikely to be true. Narcissists may have either low or high self esteem, they are divided into "vulnerable" and "grandiose" narcissists. Which of these sounds more like Trump?

Quote:
Vulnerable narcissists (VNs) tend to be more emotionally sensitive. They feel helpless, anxious and victimized when people don't treat them like royalty. Just like those with BPD, vulnerable narcissists are preoccupied with fears of rejection and abandonment. They swing back and forth between feeling superior and inferior depending on what's going on in their life at the moment. A setback (such as being fired or threatened with divorce) can bring them to therapy. But when the crisis is over, they drop out.

VN's appear to be over-compensating for low self-esteem and a deep-seated sense of shame that may date back to early childhood.
Quote:
Grandiose narcissists are less sensitive and more confident. They know they are superior and will seek revenge or go into a vicious rage against those who don't treat them with respect or dare to give them negative feedback. They appear to have no sense of shame about themselves and truly have very high self-esteem. Their parents or caregivers may have treated them as superior from early childhood, so unlike VNs, they are not compensating for anything. They're simply acting out their expectations.

They don't care as much about how their partners see them and may easily walk out of the relationship if they don't get the respect and admiration they know they deserve. They may openly have multiple relationships/affairs and pride themselves on how many people see how wonderful they are. Like people with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), they can be very aggressive and dominance-seeking without empathy or remorse.
Even grandiose narcissists are very bothered by criticism, though, because even though they genuinely believe themselves to be amazing, they feel their greatness as constantly under threat. Think about someone who obsesses over their car looking good and polishes it as soon as it gets a speck of dust on it. They don't do this because deep down they're unsatisfied with the car; rather, it's their perception of their car as gleaming perfection that creates the constant anxiety that this perfection might not last.

Uh, huh. What did you think of Holocaust Remembrance Day without mentioning Jews? Not enough to make you "cave"?
