The only problem is Pence might actually be worse.

Yes, Drumpf actually thanked himself in the third person in a tweet for something that he has literally nothing to do with

A new low

trump now upset that obama administration is not being nice.

It's almost like you kept insisting he was born in kenya and not an american or something. If the opposite happened, you'd have at least sued him into oblivion.

Nope. I used to think his but we have two situations:

Or

Obama administration was nice and open armed for a while into the transition. So you can't even blame the Kenya stuff. They were willing to overlook all that.

I think we're a lot worse off if Drumpf doesn't get to fail as president. If he resigns or is forced out he still gets to go out on top and the true believers are a bigger net negative to society for it. And we'll still be stuck with the horrifying reality of President Pence

If he completely lets them down and loses his political capital then maybe they'll stfu

What does "double down" mean in this context? Four more years of Trump or going for an even worse candidate? Who would be a worse candidate, anyway?

Like, seriously? Who could be worse?

Bush II was pretty universally disliked towards the end of his 8 years (and obv we'd all sign up for another Bush the Boy King term if it meant he replaced Trump) and it caused a decent societal shift for a bit.

Clearly there is ebb and flow, and like pvn said, plenty will just blame all his failures on Obama/Democrats, but Trump hitting rock bottom could help long term provided he doesn't engulf us in nuclear war.

yeah I think by double down I just meant dig in their heels.

in related news, I was listening to the Vox "The Weeds" podcast today in the car. I'm not sure I like it, it's mostly super echo-chambery, but I noticed that while yggy is an intolerable uptalker, he doesn't uptalk AT ALL during the little pitches he does for clubw.com or whatever. Also, chris christie was briefly mentioned, at which point my 12-year-old said "president chris christie would have been huge for memes"

Trump is so good at messaging. Yeah they are all lies but it doesn't matter. I really have no idea how the Democrats counter it.

Yeah, I can't decide if I like the Weeds either.

Can't remember if we've done this before or not, but any other good political pod's out there? I like the NPR one, Slate's Political Gabfest, and Keeping it 1600. Any others?

President-elect Donald Trump is less than enthusiastic about some senators’ suggestion that Russia ― and perhaps even Vladimir Putin himself ― should be sanctioned for interfering in the U.S. elections, telling reporters Wednesday that it’s time people move on.

For Trump, the real culprit isn’t the Russian president or his hackers. It’s computers and technology.

“I think we ought to get on with our lives,” Trump said Wednesday, according to the pool report. He was at his Mar-a-Lago resort, standing next to boxing promoter Don King. “I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what is going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure we have the kind the security we need. But I have not spoken with the senators and I will certainly will be over a period of time.”

U.S. intelligence agencies have been clear in saying that they have a pretty good idea of what’s going on. The FBI, CIA and the director of national intelligence have agreed that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections to help Trump beat Democrat Hillary Clinton. Intelligence officials also recently told NBC News that they have “a high level of confidence” that Putin himself was involved in the covert operation.

“There will be bipartisan sanctions coming that will hit Russia hard, particularly Putin as an individual,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Wednesday.
