Makes me feel like a real sucker for sending the IRS $18k in July.

Trump has basically paid nothing every year of his life and the couple years in 2005-06 where he couldn't wash his income away with "losses" and business expenses he then gets a $70M+ refund in 2009-10 (Thx Obama!) to somehow recover the money he had paid in 2005-06.

Obvious reminder is obvious: You can't get a job as a contractor for the DoD with excessive debt because you'll fail a security clearence check. The Pulitzer winning NYT article from a couple years ago essentially revealed and documented that the Trump Organization had about 3 ways of valuing their real estate holdings. Market value of "X" which is what someone would actually pay for it, Tax assessed value which was often 0.1X or even negative, and if they were applying for loans using real estate as collateral it'd be valued at 2X or more.

Thus if Trump got $200M in inheritance which was taxed at that value it was worth enormously more on the open market which was proven when he sold most, but not all his inherited properties for nearly $1B only a couple years after receiving them.
