I'd read that the EU and its assorted PMs hold the cards here and that the EU (so...Germany) isn't inclined to concede anything to the UK feeling that they created the issue and they're going to have to deal with it. Is that not the perception the UK is working under?

that is the general mood

idk how true it is though. i dont think eu countries - still mostly controlled by globalism-minded liberals, the important ones anyway - are likely to opt to take unnecessary economic hits at a time when far right parties are getting elected all over europe

just one man's opinion though, maybe they'll tell us to shove it

latest goalpost shift:

Quote:
Rudy Giuliani: "I never said there was no collusion between the campaign. Or between people in the campaign. I said the President of the United States."

"i only participated in the cover-up of the collusion!"
(which isn't even true, as we know he knew about the TT meeting and the stolen info on Shrillary, as he started bragging about it in his speeches)

i've had a cpl interesting convos with irish people about brexit lately - this is just pub talk that could be half wrong, but the implications for ireland seem pretty interesting

all the history buffs here will surely recall that from the 60s until 1998 there was low level civil war over whether northern ireland should be part of ireland or england - "the troubles". today there's no major conflict although the issue simmers in the background without much issue because it's hard to really point out day-today reasons why it makes a big difference. part of the terms of the peace agreement is reduced barriers between ireland and northern ireland economically and physically. for example you can just drive over the border on the freeway and nobody checks you

if brexit goes through a bunch of barriers (economic mostly, but physical barriers are symbolically powerful too) will have to put up since it's no longer an EU-EU relationship - these will generally further disintegrate northern ireland and ireland. this is likely to piss off the IRA (the terrorist group that wants unification)

the guys i spoke to seem to think there's a strong chance that brexit ends up causing a bunch of issues for irish / northern irish relations, and long term potentially more debate about irish reunification (northern ireland voted remain fwiw)

I'd be surprised if any big company had anyone over 30 cranking out the tweets.

NYT just hasn't gotten around to writing a piece about the story in a way that doesn't credit buzzfeed's reporting

edit: nope, guess they did credit them. Man it must have pained them to write the words "report published by Buzzfeed News"

One of the reporters on the story has some major credibility issues, so I am sure that other media are wary of the story. Plus, the two reporters involved were telling pretty different stories on cable news today regarding the documents - the more solid guy was saying they hadn't seen them while the other guy was saying they had. That raises some red flags.

Also, the Mueller probe has been pretty tight. So it is doubtful that anyone else has sources that can confirm was Buzzfeed is reporting.

What strikes me as odd is that if what is being reported is 100 percent true, someone else within the investigation would have confirmed it by now to the WashPo or NYTimes because there isn't any reason to keep it a secret anymore. They have him.

But my feeling is that the conclusion that Trump directly ordered Cohen to lie may not be as black and white as Buzzfeed is reporting. That seems like the kind of order that would be delivered through intermediaries, which would make it harder to prove charges directly against Trump without other dominoes falling first.

also, Buzzfeed ran the Steele dossier story while the NYT wouldn't, even though they couldn't find anything wrong with it

also, the NYT cleared Trump of Russian connections while hyping up Hillary's emails right before the election

so weird
