You think a government shutdown isn't a big deal?

Do you even politics? Of course who is (perceived) to (be at) blame is of monumental importance to what is in the eventual bill. If the public blames Trump/GOP the Democrats are far more likely to get a better deal ldo.

This is a bizarre post.

When the R change the rules to prevent D blockage then we can talk about... whatever it is you want to talk about. Until then I don't know what your point is.

I mean, the Rs at large not renewing CHIP and Trump specifically ending DACA protection are obviously to blame. Co-winners!

No issues with times reporting a factually correct headline though.

This is correct. Businessmen and politicians both know that it's far more important to make sure someone else gets the blame than actually do good things. That's how you move up the ladder.

The fact is that there were only 45 R votes for their ****hole bill

The bipartisan bill had 56 votes, but was killed by the Nazi wing of the GOP

You have to be braindead to blame the Dems for this

Also turtle Mitch rejected a 30 day extension to prevent shutdown

They're trying to win a PR war, which might not be the worst idea given how dumb ppl are, and because the NYT will help, like always

Cool, I don't think your post is bizarre. I think it is intellectually incoherent derp that obtusely pretends like you don't understand framing of the issue is a thing. Here is how the NYT stated the issue last time around.

"Democrats blocking" isn't a real thing, its a consciously charged summary designed to assign blame.

44 Democrats and 5 Republicans declined to close debate on a bill that they had zero input on and little notice of. Not enough Senators decided use their option to close the debate anyway. There are many ways to describe that, "Democrats blocking" imprecisely states what happened in exactly the manner Trump/Ryan/McConnell desire and intentionally omits relevant information that could be conveyed in a few words.

Why you obtusely pretend not to understand this, I have no idea.

What I do know is that your kind of derp results in this:

Yeah if anything the Dems should have been threatening a shutdown since the GOP killed DACA and CHIP. Stand up for something and take ownership of it.

Amazing deflection that misses the point completely. Dems blocked it for rationale reasons. Any other jibber jabber is irrelevant.

Dems should own that they blocked the passage bc it was a sham of a vote. Why you don't understand that's what I'm saying is beyond me.

But facts are facts, and I guess you don't like the facts.

Again, "blocking" isn't a thing in the Senate, it is NYT's chosen way to summarize a series of moves and lack of moves. One that does not tell the whole story and is not necessary, as proven by NYT's previous reporting in similar circumstances.

Second, in order to properly educate the reader it is absolutely imperative to include that "and moderate Republicans" participated in the "blocking" even if we excuse using that framing.

You are the one excusing a misrepresentation of the facts with intellectually incoherent reasoning. You know you are wrong, stop digging a hole to salvage your ego and just do better.

Because a large percentage of the population is just as stupid as you. Some are somehow even dumber. There is no way to own "shutting down the government" as a positive even when it obviously is.

So by the NYT posting that idiotic headline they do legitimate damage to the party that is trying to do the right thing and literally serving as a mouthpiece to an evil Republican that is intentionally spreading propoganda

The shutting down of the government is not something the Democrats just randomly voted on. Its the culmination of months of reprehensible Republican behavior.

If you had to assign blame for shutdown its overwhelmingly on the Republicans. The Democrats standing their ground and actually doing it, IS something they should own, but by simply saying "Dems shut down the government" as a headline youre being insanely irresponsible and ignoring months of context.

I mean if we actually thought that the republicans are seriously going to do something about daca on their own then they'd have a point.

The fact that they won't do something about it to avoid a shutdown shows that they're ****ing liars.
