MT2R: I don't think you're racist, or at least from your posts that I've seen I don't get semblance of racism. I think you're completely ignorant and naive if you believe Trump is not racist.
I didnt think so at first. but he has done very well to convince me and there really is no doubt at this point.
Thus, congrats, you have a person who had a Gary Johnson bumper sticker on his car and who voted in the last election for the first time to have it on the record that he didn't vote for Donny or Hillary as someone who is going to happily vote for Trump next time.
MT2R is so mad about being called racist that he's going to show us by...voting for the racist in chief in the next election
I think that MT2R believes that he is not racist, due to his mixed race married friends, books that he's read, minorities he's been around, education that he's had, attitude of valuing diversity, and life experiences being friends with minorities in tough situations.
That would indeed indicate a lack of KKK-type of racism. As Wookie points out, though, this is a very shallow and incomplete definition of racism. There are many other beliefs and attitudes that can be racist, or at least tolerate and subtly support racism.
MT2R, how would you feel about a person who had pretty much the exact same life experiences and attitudes as you - basically a clone - except that he believed that black people and other minorities are inferior? He even valued race relations, diversity, etc, and had many black and other minority friends, who he tried to treat well, but simply thought that they were inferior in various ways. Would that person be racist?
Assuming yes, now what about someone else who didn't think that person was racist? An attitude of "he's not actually racist, he just thinks minorities are inferior, but he treats them well." Would that perhaps indicate a blind spot about racism, and the presence of views that are also somewhat racist, or at least tolerate and subtly support racism?
The above should be obvious, but what if we replace the belief that minorities are inferior, with the belief that laziness is a trait in blacks? Or that a judge cannot do their job impartially because of their race? Or that black and Latino teenagers should receive the death penalty for a crime they were exonerated of? Or discriminating by refusing to rent apartments to black people? Or removing black employees from the floor of his casinos? Or dozens of other examples of derogatory statements and attitudes and actions towards minorities?
Would a person who is not a racist, excuse all of the above and actually think that none of it is racist?
Didn't think he'd be able to top writing a novella about Illinois pensions while not having even the slightest clue of what the actual problem is there. But here we are.
