It's obviously a huge issue if ISPs are able to choke your access to whatever they deem fit. Imagine everytime you wanted to go to the 2p2 forums, you had to go to ESPN forums instead.
I agree that this would suck for all of us. I don’t agree that this should be illegal.
If we want to have national internet I would even be fine with covering that as a federal service and nationalizing the internet and funding it through tax revenue. However, as long as we have corporate entities they should be allowed to manage it as they want in a profit seeking manner for better or worse.
But let’s be honest there aren’t actually gonna be page redirects like this on major webpages. If it’s actually this bad someone will raise literally a trillion dollars and make their own ISP.
Like tut said, the right to go on 2p2 or use Netflix or Facebook or google is not some inherent right. It’s a privilege that all of us are lucky to have. We all currently pay for this privilege and it’s really not a big deal to pay more for the same privilege in the future.
