bump just because. gonna start perusing the rules this weekend to make sure everything checks out and maybe pull out some here or there to make sure this great band of brothers agrees
Calds method of operation is to overvalue every single player he has and lol at reasonable to good offers because their value seemingly increases six fold once they hit his roster. Actual or market value is something that doesn't register. Bring some ritalin and lube because it takes several tries to break him open.
There was some heated discussion on Slack last night regarding the keeper system. Even the board is split so Ibwant to get some more feedback before we put it to a vote.
The concern was that with 10 keepers at no cost the top teams would become too unstoppable and the bad teams would never be able to rebuild despite the AAAAAAAAA draft. I personally disagree with this but its hard to know for sure.
CDL proposed a somewhat interesting idea. Rather than 10 keepers, we drop it to 9, and require people to keepba full starting lineup. That means that each team has to keep exactly 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 W/R/T, and 1 W/T.
Pros of this: theoretically it adds several (possibly many) good players per season to the offseason draft pool, which benefits the rebuilding teams and makes the draft more interesting. The idea is that this helps with league balance.
Cons: lack of freedom. we dont live in commie china. People should be able to keep who they want. Hoya made the point that it could actually HURT the bad teams to force them to keep a QB and a TE as that could be 2 spots they use on young RB/WR talent that could end up being good.
Right now the board is a bit split as bus and cvig like cdls idea and myself and hoya arent sold. Domer proposed bringing the discussion to this thread.
I am in favor of dropping the keepers to 9 no matter what and i think we'll do that. Just not sure about forcing people to keep specific positions. This is america after all.
One possible solution is to tier the amount of keepers a team gets. Something like non-playoff teams get unlimted keepers, playoff teams get 9, the two teams who make the championship game get 7.
You can just let people keep up to 9 players, rather than force them to keep 9 players
After reading a little about dynasty vs keeper, it seems like people are nervous about the finality of the draft in this league and don't want a dynasty league at all, but instead a modified keeper league
on a different topic, a thing I read to do is score teams based on potential points when determining who drafts first overall next year, as in the lowest potential points is equal to who truly has the worst talent on his entire roster
this also prevents teams from benching players in order to try to get 1st pick
