Light week before the Thanksgiving Rivalry Weekend. At least we have a little bit of weekday action going!

TUESDAY
101 Ohio -18
102 Bowling Green 18

7:30 PM 103 Eastern Michigan
104 Northern Illinois -4½

WEDNESDAY
7:30 PM 105 Toledo
106 Buffalo -7½

7:30 PM 107 Akron
108 Miami Ohio -30

THURSDAY
8:00 PM 111 NC State
112 Georgia Tech -2
Somehow Georgia Tech who is 2-8 and has lost at home to the Citadel is favored here. That should tell you about all you need to know about the ACC.

FRIDAY
9:30 PM 113 Colorado State
114 Wyoming -7½

SATURDAY
12:00 PM 117 Ball State
118 Kent State 3

12:00 PM 129 Oklahoma State
130 West Virginia +7½
In the Big-12 where everybody can (and does) lose to everybody, Ok State, Texas and Iowa State still have an outside shot at the title if Baylor loses to Texas and @ KU. But first, Ok State needs to win here and stay ranked headed into Bedlam. WVU has had an up and down season marred by injuries in Neil Brown’s first year, but finally broke through with a win @ KSU last week.

12:00 PM 131 East Carolina
132 Connecticut +13½

12:00 PM 133 BYU
134 Massachusetts 39

12:00 PM 141 Liberty
142 Virginia -17½

12:00 PM 143 Illinois
144 Iowa -13½

After starting 2-4 and losing at home to Eastern Michigan, Illinois has… won 4 in a row? Including vs Wisconsin and @ Sparty, where they came back from 28-3? Iowa is out of the B1G title race, but bounced back last week to beat Minnesota at home.

12:00 PM 145 Purdue
146 Wisconsin -22½

12:00 PM 147 Kansas
148 Iowa State -23
If they’re not ranked by the committee already this week, then posting a W here should do it for the cyclones, probably the most underrated team in the country.

12:00 PM 149 Minnesota
150 Northwestern +13½

2:00 PM 151 Oregon
152 Arizona State +14½
Herm Edwards’ Sun Devils went for two and the win against Oregon State last weekend but didn’t get it, dropping the once 5-1 team to 5-5. The shine has come off for Herm, who is now 12-11 as a college coach. No better way to win everyone back than ruin Oregon’s CFP hopes.

2:00 PM 153 Utah
154 Arizona 21
Has anybody actually watched Utah this year? They are pretty damn good, with a d-line loaded with NFL talent and Tyler Huntley back there slangin’ it.

2:00 PM 157 Washington
158 Colorado 14
Speaking of Utah, the Utes and Ducks badly need Washington to win its last two, finish 8-4 and give each of them another ranked win. Could easily be the difference between the playoff and the living room couch.

2:00 PM 217 Air Force
218 New Mexico 22

2:30 PM 159 Texas State
160 Appalachian State -28½

2:30 PM 161 Boston College
162 Notre Dame -19½

ND continues its grind of mediums, and may well finish 10-2 despite beating only 1 (or zero!) ranked team. A week after running for about 50000 yards on Syracuse, BC posted 281 against FSU, but it wasn’t enough. ND meanwhile, absolutely shut down Navy’s running attack on Saturday.

3:00 PM 163 Nevada
164 Fresno State -13

3:00 PM 169 Oregon State
170 Washington State -13

Bowl eligibility at stake here. OSU has been one of the season’s best surprises.

3:00 PM 171 Georgia Southern
172 Arkansas State pk

3:30 PM 115 Nebraska
116 Maryland 4

3:30 PM 121 Michigan
122 Indiana 8

Indiana continues its habit of coming close-but-not-quite in big games against ranked teams, but gets to host Michigan who might get caught looking forward to Ohio State. They were ranked for the first time in forever last week, and promptly coughed it up, but can probably get back on the board with an upset here.

3:30 PM 125 Texas A&M
126 Georgia -13½

Poor Texas A&M. Earlier in the season it faced Clemson and Alabama, both ranked No. 1 at the time. The next two weeks it plays road games against the Dawgs and current No. 1 LSU. If nothing else it’s a measuring stick for Jimbo Fisher’s progress 10 games into Year 2.

3:30 PM 173 Western Kentucky
174 Southern Miss -5½

3:30 PM 175 Marshall
176 Charlotte 7

3:30 PM 177 Texas
178 Baylor -4

Speaking of long-shot conference title game bids, Texas (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) is somehow still in play in the Big 12 despite losing to Iowa State over the weekend. But it will needs to rediscover a mysteriously vanishing offense that managed just 54 rushing yards and 327 total yards against the Cyclones.

3:30 PM 179 Central Florida
180 Tulane 6
Remember UCF?

3:30 PM 181 SMU
182 Navy -3
Remember SMU?

3:30 PM 183 Michigan State
184 Rutgers +20½

3:30 PM 187 Pittsburgh
188 Virginia Tech -3

This is a big one for ACC Coastal junkies. The Panthers and Hokies are both 4-2 in conference play, a half game behind Virginia. If Tech wins its fifth consecutive conference game, then UVa-VT becomes a conference championship play-in game. If Pitt wins … a potential four-team tie comes into play.

3:30 PM 191 Syracuse
192 Louisville -8

3:30 PM 195 Tennessee
196 Missouri -5

3:30 PM 197 Arkansas
198 LSU -43½

4:00 PM 119 Memphis
120 South Florida +14½

Zero margin for error in the AAC West, where Memphis is clearly the best team but sits in a three way 5-1 tie with SMU and Navy.

4:00 PM 199 San Jose State
200 UNLV +4½

4:00 PM 199 California
200 Stanford

THE BIG GAME. Stanford has won 9 in a row. Cal started the season 4-0 with Garbers at the helm, then went 1-5 after he got injured. He came back to start last week against USC and was looking good until he got hurt again. Stanford, meanwhile, has dealt with tons of injuries of their own. Cal needs to beat either Stanford or UCLA to become bowl eligible, while Stanford needs to beat both Cal and ND in the finale.

4:00 PM 201 UTEP
202 New Mexico State -7

4:30 PM 203 Old Dominion
204 Middle Tennessee State -13½

5:00 PM 139 Troy
140 UL Lafayette -13½

5:00 PM 205 Coastal Carolina
206 UL Monroe -5½

6:00 PM 207 Florida Atlantic
208 UTSA 19

7:00 PM 123 Kansas State
124 Texas Tech 1

7:00 PM 135 Temple
136 Cincinnati -10

7:00 PM 165 UCLA
166 USC -13

Last year’s USC loss to a 2-8 UCLA team sure seemed like the end for coach Clay Helton until then-AD Lynn Swann gave him a reprieve. This year it marks 7-4 USC’s regular-season finale, a.k.a. Clay Helton’s last chance to audition for new AD Mike Bohn. Unless his fate has already been decided.

7:00 PM 209 Miami Florida
210 Florida International +18½

7:00 PM 211 Penn State
212 Ohio State -18½

Their past three meetings were Penn State’s 24-21 upset in 2016 and Ohio State’s 39-38 and 27-26 escapes in 2017 and ’18. Vegas has lower expectations for this one; the Buckeyes opened as 19-point favorites. It’s still the high-stakes Big Ten East championship game.

7:30 PM 127 Duke
128 Wake Forest -6½

8:00 PM 137 TCU
138 Oklahoma -17½

Oklahoma’s last three games have featured an (almost) 25 comeback, a 21 point comeback and another 25 point comeback. I don’t know what’s going to happen in this one, but TCU is pretty good, and it should be fun.

10:30 PM 139 Boise State
140 Utah State

Boise State (9-1, 6-0 MWC) remains in the hunt for a New Year’s Six berth, but first it needs to survive one of the two teams that sits a game behind the Broncos in their division. It may be up to third-string QB Jaylon Henderson, a senior who just made his first career start.

12:00 AM 215 San Diego State
216 Hawaii -1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to get to the B12 champ, Texas needs to:

Win @ Baylor (+4)
Win v Tex Tech (-12)
Kansas also upsets Baylor (+15)
Iowa State loses to either Kansas or KU (or else there would be a 3 way tie, which I think ISU would win?)

you are correct that Texas needs to win out and Kansas needs to beat Baylor.

the tie breaker will depend on who gets into the tie. If it's ISU/Baylor/Texas then it falls to

"2. The Conference records of the three or more teams will be compared against the remaining team(s) in the Conference standings from top to bottom. "

Since everyone lost to OU, it probably falls to Okie State, which UT and Baylor Beat and ISU lost to, then it falls to heads up UT/Baylor which under the above assumptions UT won so UT would go.

If OSU wins out as well then OSU/Bay/ISU/UT records in their group would be
OSU 2-1
UT 2-1
Bay 2-1
ISU 1-2
and with UT over Baylor UT would go.

TLDR; It's a big ****ing mess and we won't know till all the games have played. Really odd how so many teams in the Big 12 are top 30ish this year.
NCAA Football WEEK 13 thread Quote
11-19-2019 , 01:38 PM
And the offensive struggles of UT are mainly due to the hard headedness of the coaches. Herman wants to force our will on teams by running over them. So teams are selling out to stop the run and we end up in a never ending run run throw pattern and have been bailed out by our QB and WR's.

Didn't do **** against ISU till 45 seconds left in the half when we went HUNH and drove right down the field. Second half after a few 3 and outs we go back to HUNH and drive right down the field. If we'd just go HUNH for most of the game we'd probably be undefeated or pretty close to it.

Partly an overreaction to their upset of KSU... partly potential look ahead spot for OSU... partly WV's last home game and needing to win last two to go bowling?

Not sure I'd disagree, but numbers say Washington is.

I think Oregon is very beatable, but I don't think ASU is gonna do it.

Utah is best team in Pac this year.

I can't believe how poorly coached UW has been this year. Poor use of personnel, particularly at WR. Some moronic play calls (esp. wildcat, trick plays... and shotgun w/ empty backfield on potential running downs). Somehow couldn't recruit/develop ILBs worth a damn. I think even Slick Rick would have this team 10-2.

If Michigan stands any chance vs. OSU next week, they need to put Indiana away early, not go down to the wire.

Don't forget that Memphis only loss came on one of the most insanely bad calls I have ever seen. If it wasn't exactly the opposite of what somebody would want to rig it for, I'd say it was rigged.

Memphis would've had a shot to finish the season undefeated with potentially four wins over top-25 teams, which is as many or more as most of the title contenders (of course they'd all be in the 20-25 range)

Oregon vs Oklahoma for playoff spot 4 assuming OSU and LSU win out and eliminate PSU/UGA from contention is really interesting. Oregon's one loss is a last minute TD drive on a neutral site to a good opponent in Auburn and they have a win @ Utah (9-1, current #7). Oklahoma's loss is @ KSU (6-4) and they have a win @ Baylor (9-1, current #12).

Oklahoma's next couple of wins are vs solid teams (ISU @ 6-4 currently #23, Texas @ 6-4) with a game to play @ OkSt (7-3, currently #21) and a likely title game rematch vs Baylor. Oregon's next best wins are @ USC (7-4, currently #23) and @ Wash (6-4) along with a potential rematch vs Utah.

I think in this situation I'd give the nod to Oregon for their loss being slightly better and all else being close to even but I wouldn't fault anyone for going the other way.

For the same reason, I think.

I think ND plays USC or Stanford in the final week of the season, which means that there are 11 Pac-12 teams left so 1 of them has to either have a bye or play another noncon.

Ending the season on a bye seems super dumb to me, so I don't see why the ND game midseason (or even 2nd to last week!) and then play Stanford/Cal and USC/UCLA to end.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that rivalry week is over Thanksgiving, and Cal/Stanford/UCLA/USC students give zero shits about football and live comparatively farther away from campus than say Michigan or Ohio State students, so they go home and don't go to the games?

I've never seen something like that. Those reasons don't justify wasting the bye week at the end of the season. The only logic is if it would help for the PACCG, which is much less likely when their opponents get two bye weeks to SC's 1, after an already difficult schedule.

Oh well, it was SC who ended the normal rivalry played on the last day of the season long ago. They said it was too cold in the Midwest.

They're bad, but they're not "that loss to Citadel at home wasn't a fluke" bad

Turned it on, and it looks like GT was dominating, but I saw NC State get a nice stop and then run a great drive all the way down the field.

1st and goal at the 5, then going backwards

Wait what? GT took 3rd and goal from the 17 instead of 2nd and goal from the 32??

Feels like the latter is a lot better

Ugh, 2:30 left both teams full timeouts NC State 4th and goal from the 2 (see above, lol)

They let the clock run down to 2 mins and call TO, presumably to drain GT's time for a strike-back drive.

But given that GT has 3 timeouts, 2 mins or 2:30 is not a huge difference. Whereas if you get stopped on the 2, you want to save your timeouts for when they run it up the gut 3 times and have to punt to you and you get it back on the 35 with like 2 mins and no TOs.

A lot of the reason you go for it inside the 3 is that even if you miss, your opponent's next drive is crippled (and therefore YOUR next drive has a lot of value)
