I mean, I obviously went with the most heinous crime I could think of, but in this case that's because it's soooo much more heinous over anything else that was available. I mean, plotting to murder your girlfriend because you don't want to be responsible for the child she's carrying? Its Heinousness Above Replacement is way higher than any other crime on the board's ____ Above Replacement at anything.

Not all of my picks will be this dark. I have a couple funny ones in mind.

I thought Carruth was a clear top 5 at worst. He was one of three who immediately jumped into my mind as soon as I saw the thread.

There are definitely more heinous crimes I've come across while researching, but most of them aren't as well known to U.S. fans(but considering how small of an overall market NFL is, they would be much more well known worldwide than Carruth)

Really?

How many people outside SE or football fans know who this guy is? OJ will be talked about for 100 years. Not to mention OJ physically murdered the people and was way more famous/better. Carruth didn't even pull no trigga mang.

plus OJ was acquitted by a jury of his peers.

john brockington, calvin hill, franco harris, and earl campbell all said not guilty.

Allegedly!

It's too bad we can't draft more than one crime per athlete because I think there'd be a pretty good debate about where O.J.'s armed robbery should go. In terms of audacity it has to be at or near the top.

I confess my drafting will likely be America-centric. Unless I stumble upon a snooker player who massacred an entire native village or something.

Edit. Assuming that there really isn't some guy who was gonna be picked for stealing panties. If there is plz no ban.

Najeh Devenport is an awesome pick. He would have been a heck of a RB if he could have ever stayed healthy.

It put him away for a long time and it was funny as hell. I think it would have easily been a top 10. Playing Nordberg, his third most heinous crime against humanity, would be top 50.

Damn. Areaman just pmed me a phenomenal pick that wasn't even on my radar so I'm not gonna use it. There's going to be some sick value up for grabs in the second half of this round.

Pick and writeup coming shortly.

Round 1, Pick 4

Spoiler:
UUU: Ugueth Urtaín Urbina

Spoiler:
If you've ever wondered what it takes to be sentenced to 14 years in a Venezuelan prison here's your answer: attack five men at a party thrown in your honor with a machete and gasoline and attempt to burn them alive because you think they might have stolen from you.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
NL Leader in saves (41) in 1999
Two time all-star (1998, 2002)
World Series Champion (2003)

Urbina's pitches included a moving fastball and a slider that enabled him to hold left-handed hitters in check. He also threw a changeup which tailed away from right-handers and a splitter that broke sharply.

Spoiler:
Philadelphia Phillies reliever Ugueth Urbina takes his personal property very seriously. At a welcome-home party for the pitcher in his native Venezuela, after many drinks, Urbina discovered that one of his laborers might have stolen a firearm. According to a witness, his response was measured, rational and logical: He and some of his friends "captured" a bunch of his employees, tied them up, poured paint thinner on them, burned them and went after them with a machete.

21-year-old Ricardo Osal, told police that Urbina and others rounded up the workers, beat them, attacked them with a machete, then splattered gasoline and paint thinner on them and burned them.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
Ok, so there are tons of murderers left. But Urbina was a bona-fide all-star, and just 14 days after his last major league appearance he goes all Danny Trejo on some guests at his party. His weapons of choice and the spark that set him off clearly illustrate the degree of psychopathy we're looking at. I mean the man clearly had guns at his ranch, but he chooses a machete?

If Venezuela has a prison league I bet he throws inside whenever he pleases.

Ooooh good one. Forgot about Ugie.

Carruth's child survived and his gf died like a month later. Pretty weak iyam. OJ was a superior athlete and was able to get the job done and still got off #SWAGGGGGGG

How in the world have UNDRAFTED, UNDRAFTED and UNDRAFTED not been picked yet? I thought for sure they were the clearcut #2, #3 and #4 picks in this draft.

Hint: They were all accused of the same crime and the only one who was innocent was the only one convicted imo.
