Having done a bunch of tris and OWS events, it's definitely faster to swim in water of that depth...if you're a good swimmer. Any water level above the waist should probably be swam by just about anyone, any water level below the knee should be ran by just about anyone. In between you should swim if that's where you're most comfortable or run if that's where you're most comfortable. Outside of Wes and Tyler, I doubt anyone on the show should be swimming at that level.
Plus, we've seen Roylee swim before, and it wasn't pretty-he pretty much is incapable, so he should definitely be running it. Or at least walking slowly. The decision would get interesting when you have the puzzle pieces in your hand and are heading back-kicking while using awkward puzzle pieces as a weirdly shaped kickboard would be tough, although it looked like Laurel was doing it.
