sorry, wasn't taking offense to the %/# "power" punches part of the equation, only the "more damage." one only need look at canelo vs. ggg demeanor in the mid-late rounds to see the evidence of that

the average power punch of canelo hits probably 15-20% lighter than a golovkin power punch.

No doubt. Canelo didn't go much damage in this one, but he did land.

Could easily see some judges going 114-114 or even 115-113 Canelo, although it's so hard to land on Canelo with how winded he looked 7-12.

Sorry, my friend and I are going through Byrd stuff and made a mistake.

However, we've been following the lines all week. And yeah, it was fishy as hell.

I said all day because you said 48 hours, but TripleG has been in the -150 to -160 range all week.

while i do not personally agree with a draw i think a draw card is absolutely reasonable and i would defer to an expert judge on that one. canelo fought exceptionally well. a 115-113 canelo card would be hard to swallow but i think i could accept it as well.

i expected a split decision here and felt canelo would have earned that all the way.

118-110 golovkin would be real bad. 118-110 canelo is probably the worst card of a pro fight that i've watched live, including mayweather/canelo.

EDIT: i also believe canelo turned in a great 12th.

You got to watch the fight live. Lucky!

Scoring of this reminded me a lot of the first Paul Williams/Sergio Martinez fight

I'd like to see Canelo fight Jacobs after the rematch

sorry, "live" being like, in real-time. not in person.

and man, i've been thinking about paul williams all month. what could have been. williams/mayweather is the fight that should have gone off, but mayweather intelligently managed around it.

Ok, IF we somehow can't have GGG/Canelo II on Cinco de Cuatro, then let's do this:

GGG v. BJS to get #AllTheBelts
Canelo v. Jacobs

If Canelo wins, we go GGG/Canelo II one year from today, and if Jacobs wins, we get GGG/Jacobs II in a rematch of the only fight people think GGG might've lost.

Manny "losing" to the musical instrument was my biggest shock this year, still stands

didn't watch the fight and i refuse to watch a replay. watching manny "fight" floyd was bad enough. i don't need to see more of what was an electric career get flushed down the toilet and tarnished more than it already has been.

That's the second best option to a rematch I guess.

I get the feeling BJS will never fight the top middleweights tho, he'll find a way out.

God Canelo got corncobbed by a guy 8 years older than him

A rematch is just asking for GGG to land the one he couldn't quite land this time

Get ****ing rekt, Canelo

Oh no don't, Manny is finished, it was a terrible performance by him. But Horn is a dud.

Manny, Cotto and Floyd need to stop fighting.

The tilting thing as a GGG fan was watching Canelo move to GGG's right every time he was up against the ropes and GGG not nailing him. Should have gone to the body a lot more when on the ropes; he was getting nailed by nice counters so might as well attack the body.

Daniel.Jacobs had the same reaction. He was streaming the decision live and couldn't believe it, had GGG winning clearly.

Canelo left his face open enough and GGG took advantage there when GGG had him closed off. Don't think GGG wanted any of Canelo's crossing shots so he kept it light. I noticed it too but Canelo was landing solid regularly.

That's not how you score boxing. Canelo fought in spurts, he had good rounds but ultimately GGG controlled most rounds.

Right. And GGG kept that going even if Canelo decided to unload an unhinged flurry. Crazy chin. GGG's sustained power > Canelo's bursts. Not by a huge margin though as Canelo could unload when he wanted to, and over the course of the fight his body shots were particularly impressive

In ring control alone, GGG was superior in all rounds 3-12. The only close one was R6
