Boxing lacks a big personality with Floyd gone. People want swagger and trash-talking from an American boxer. If you look at the elite boxers they either aren't American or if they are don't have that charisma.

Prince Naseem was my first boxing hero. The mix of offensive boxing, stylish knockouts and charismatic showboating works well with trash-talking imo

I never liked it with Floyd. I don't know how he was such a draw to casual fans.

Its a shame Canelo doesn't speak English, I think he says the right things and backs it up (although I'm not backing him this time)

Would have paid whatever. What's it like in America? I saw the last one was $99 or something, no wonder boxing is losing popularity over there!
$79.99! This is part of the reason I stream most of ppv events unless it's GGG or a match I really want to see.

Americans are too fat to identify with boxers. That's why they like football and baseball, because both can be played well by fat people.

Boxing just had the biggest PPV of all time. The GGG/Canelo fight just had a nice segement on ESPN sports center and is a highlight of the major media sports this weekend.
Top Rank just signed a multi year deal with ESPN.

I think on a boxing forum someone said this was a theme of a 1925 news article that "boxing is dieing in the United States" lol.

Boxing in the US goes in cycles and we are on huge wave going up right now.

GGG can't take the P4P title from Ward with a win here when Ward just beat the boogie man at a higher weight class twice and GGG will never try to do the same thing with the boxing clinic he would get put through.

I absolutely hate Ward and would love to see him lose but he is easily the P4P king. Not having him #1 right now just means you are full of **** IMO.

Canelo could have a legit claim but I don't think so with the Mayweather loss compared to Ward's undefeated record.

Eh I think considering most people had Krusher winning first fight GGG would have a very legitimate claim if he were to dominate canelo

A dream fight would be for them to fight each other in that scenario but considering ward is talking like he wants to move up and seems unlikely he could make 168 again and GGG isn't a very big 160 I can't imagine that happens but there was rumblings of it a few years ago. I don't give ward any blame for not doing this but I would still like to see him dominate Adonis at 175. Kind of hope Andrade moves up to 160 as him v GGG is somewhat intriguing but that dude has mismanaged his career something fierce. He is signing an HBO contract though apparently for a November fight v the almighty unnamed opponent

ESPN just released a 30/30 on Tommy Morrison that is outstanding. It's a bit log at 1.5 hours but it's really well done and moves quickly. I watched it on the espn app, not sure how else you can see it.

One of my coaches actually fought Tommy Morrison, a scary thought for at least two reasons...

Nah, it's Ward. As much as I dislike the guy the resumes just aren't close. I think he lost the first fight 114-113 but whatever, he can sit on top and do nothing until he retires and then we'll all be better for having lost him.

I see Loma/Rigo the same as Duran/Hurns (or Manny/Floyd really). Two hugely skilled boxers in a great p4p fight...but one is just too small. Loma's gonna roll and we're all gonna suck his dick over it but the reality is it was over before the first bell.

Guess I'm alone in thinking that Lomachenko is #1 p4p as of right now.

Also Canelo/GGG weigh-in is live on GGG's Facebook page.

I mean, if the question is "who is the best boxer regardless of weight right now" I don't see any way it isn't Loma, but you're going to get buried under a chant of "Resume tho!" if you try and make that case.

Bascailly, I think it's clear that Loma is the best p4p boxer in the world but we're just going to have to wait while he keeps embarrassing everyone before we can "prove" it.

Isn't that what p4p is?

Christ, three fighters on GGG/Canelo undercard have missed weight on their first attempt. So bad.

Errebody missin' weight

SUB, read the rest tho, it's not about who's the best, it's about who's proved what. I think that's dumb. For example, I've said, I think Bud is the best 147 fighter in the world right now even though he's just now considering moving up because I think he's better than ever other 147 guy right now. I firmly believe I'm right, but I understand Bud has to prove it first.

I feel the same way about Loma, he's #1 p4p to me, but he doesn't have the wins yet. He will, and we can look back and say we called it early, but saying he's better over Ward right now isn't the hill I want to die on.
