Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I am under the impression that Manny has agreed to all drug testing demands, up to the day of the fight.

That is what is being portrayed in this thread. I would like a source to this if possible.
I really really doubt this is the case.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I guess we're basically going on Bob Arum's word, which is a slippery slope.

But if Pac hadn't agreed to do the complete testing, you'd think the Mayweather camp would have immediately seized on that as the reason they aren't fighting. they've used that excuse several times now, so why not use it again unless Pac did completely agree to what they wanted? Why change it to "I'm taking a vacation everybody!"?

Yup, if he had a legit gripe he would have come it with it no doubt. His silence speaks very loud.

All Arum said was the blood testing stipulations were agreed to.

Nobody knows whether it's with a cutoff or not.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Mayweathers camp (well, the gayman Ellerbe) has said there is not even any negotiations going on.
Bob Arum only planned this whole thing out with Greenburg at HBO who (apparently) talked with Floyds advisor Al Haymon.

Not to mention, even if there were any real negotiations going, apparently (according to Bob Arum), both camps had a gag order and were not to negotiate thru media. That went really well!

If Manny actually did agree to the original demand of no cutoff date that would have for sure been made very clear. Not some smoke mirror statements alá "we have met Floyds demands"... Which demands?

DannyOcean_, you're a good poster and knows better than that. Floyds talk about "vacation.... supporting my family" is pretty much a pc way of saying hes sitting out while seeing how Rogers legal situation unfolds.

You expect him to come out saying his uncle is a woman abuser and might go to jail?

Yeah, and now we know he had no direct contact with Mayweathers camp who themselves said there were no negotiation going on.

Bob Arum is a ****ing scumbag racist who has been leeching off of fighters and boxingfans for decades. The last time they negotiated for a fight in December/January even the impartial mediator went out and said he had been lying to the press.

So how can we take anything he says seriously?

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Also, does anybody have a link to where Mayweather says he wants the blood testing all the way up to the fight and the cut off date is no longer acceptable?

I remember after the Moseley fight, Merchant asked him about the blood testing cut off date and all Floyd said was "take the tests and we'll fight" But he was not clear whether or not he'll still accept the cut off.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

undefeated, the last part is obviously true. Floyd's waiting for Roger.

but it's still odd how he moves the goalposts. He could have just said "I'm waiting to see how the legal situation with my uncle plays out", instead of saying "I fought 60 days ago (poor baby), I'm just relaxing right now"

And I'm not any kind of Arum supporter. this whole thing is basically a PR war at this point.

I don't think he wants to shine any light on that whole mess. Hes saying he is taking time off to support his family, that makes it quite obvious atleast to me.

Absolutely. Most accurate way to describe this whole mess.

What are the excuses really?

For the first fight he wanted him to undergo random testing (something Roach is on video saying they have no problems with). He even went out and gave them a compromise of 14-days cutoff.
The fight fell thru and Clottey vs Pacquiao was booked seconds later.(how convenient)

Now his uncle is likely going to prison 2 months before the proposed fight date, and no direct negotiations has even taken place.
Do you expect him to go in there without his trainer?

Please give me some reasons as to why this fight should have been signed. Also elaborate on the excuses.

Fwiw, i think they are both egotistical bastards with the racist Bob Arum being the biggest **** of them all.

Regarding what cutoff dates Manny accepted, i found this interview with Floyds third second uncle Jeff... He has no official position within the Mayweather camp so i can't say this for sure is 100% accurate.

"""PC: Bob Arum gave your nephew Floyd a midnight deadline. What do you think of that whole situation?

JM: Basically, it's a situation where Bob wants to make Floyd look like he's a bad guy by doing this. Realistically, it doesn't matter because at the end of the day, Floyd don't need Manny and Manny don't need him. They need each other to make that kind of money, but if they can't agree...like I said, Bob just wants to make Floyd look like he's the bad guy by saying, "Oh, we gave him a deadline and he didn't beat it." But he told ya'll to do damn random testing and ya'll never did agree to it. And they still haven't agreed to it. And then he thinks they gonna try to trick somebody by saying, "Oh, we will do random testing with a 14-day cutoff." What the **** is that? That's bull****! That ain't random.""""

Oh well, i guess i don't really care since it was 100% obvious it wouldn't happen this year. I just posted because i got surprised that many of you were this upset when it was pretty much 0.0% chance of it actually happening. Floyd won't go in there without his trainer and neither would Manny. Even the scumbag Bob Arum has said this.

the worst part is being a huge manny fan and having to watch his next fight be horse****.

Arum sucks. In a great world he'd be fighting Paul Williams or Berto.

`We will let the Blacks and the Latinos fight in the ring and we will count the money on the outside'
- Bob Arum

'UFC are a bunch of skinhead white guys watching people in the ring who also look like skinhead white guys.'

I'd put Bradley up there too. Bradley and Williams top two choices, and then Berto. Then perhaps Martinez at 154.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I don't think Pacquiao would fight Martinez or Williams if he said Foreman was "too big".
I guess we could dream tho.

I see it, he will slaughter Margacheato easily for a vacant 154lb title (Martinez rightfully) and then fight Cotto for another 154 title. After that he will fight Mayweather or retire.

Unfortunately.

If Golden Boy and Amir Khan man the **** up, we could have a super6 at 140 tho. That should be almost as good as Pacquiao vs Mayweather.

Amir Khan
Tim Bradley
Devon Alexander
Marcos Maidana
Katsidis?
Probably Ortiz (zzzz). Judah would be cool tho to have instead.

Oh. Anyone able to figure out why the fk Williams turned down 3mm dollars to fight Martinez? Is he delusional thinking he can get a Pac or May fight, or is he ducking?

Pacman vs Paul Williams would be at 147 if it happened. Pac is already a small 147 guy, i don't think he has much chance against the best from 154. He might collect a belt from 154 but he won't beat a top guy for it. Going to 154 is probably a mistake for him unless it's a Cotto/Foreman/Margarito type.

This is so ****ing typical of boxing. There is no reason for this fight not to happen. It has to happen.

Whatever, as a big ticket draw, the sport is dying, if not already dead. This didn't help.

**** Roger Mayweather. The whole family is ****ed.

Agreed on most parts. PW vs Pac (the fantasyfight) would be at 147, Paul himself aims at that, but im quite sure Pacs beef with fighting Foreman was that he is too big.. Not in weight, but too tall.

PW vs Pac (or Pac vs any non toprank fighter except for Mayweather) i would bet heavily against it happening.

It could very likely happen. It just never was a remote possibility for it happening in november.

May 2011 would be my guess unless Bob Arum has other plans and wants another inhouse fight (Cotto vs Pac as mentioned in previously linked article).

Apparently Mayweathers team has this to say;

This would be really bad if it's accurate. Not that it would surprise me one bit looking at what people are running Pacquiaos circus (Koncz and Arum).

I guess Greenburg should be able to give a fair view on the matter.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Pacquiao-Cotto II makes no sense to me. Mainstream public would not buy it again. I'd be surprised if it got over 500k ppvs tbh.

Pacquiao-Margarito makes no sense to me. Mexican fans, from what I've read, don't like Margarito like they used to. Boxing fans hate him and his star power he had post cotto is gone after getting starched by mosley.

Pacquiao-Williams co headlined by Margarito-Cotto II makes a lot of sense to me. Williams may not be a household name, a popular fighter, or an attraction. But he would be after it was hyped, 24/7 etc. 6'1 vs 5'6. He's been on free HBO a lot so he definitely has name recognition even though he may not have a lot of devout fans ala pacquiao.

And then having Margarito-Cotto coheadline with it makes that fight much bigger than it would be on it's own.

If Williams-Pacquiao doesn't happen next, it's because Roach think it's too risky of a fight bottom line.
