That kind of cowardice is pretty hard to believe until you see it.

Holy **** that knockout was amazing, I bet IT is glad he wussed out of that fight after the late punch.

And Canelo sucks. I don't see how the fight happens, why vacate then negotiate the fight for September? What a coward.

Honestly, Canelo needs the fight as much as GGG. He has no good big name opponents to fight at 154-160, those two are easily the best and biggest names and Canelo has a reputation for taking dangerous fights. He's going to lose that reputation if he doesn't take this fight.

**** me, how is Ricky Burns fighting for a world title again soon? More importantly, how have they found an opponent that is 40-1-1 (and has avenged his only loss) yet that is perceived to be so poor that he's a significant dog to Burns? Am I missing something?

Sooooo... GGG v. Canelo looking most likely for cinco de mayo 2017 now? Will/can GGG unify the titles by then? Who does he need to fight? GGG v Canelo for all the belts on cinco seems like the block buster golden boy is waiting for...

if I'm Canelo, the only way I fight GGG is if he promises not to win the fight. GGG should be happy with the dream payout he's finally going to get. No need to ruin boxing by beating the hottest and most popular boxer the sport is going to have for the next 10 years.

Best case is probably GGG fights Saunders and gets #AllTheBelts, Canelo fights someone for some cash and then they meet next Cinco de Mayo weekend and get this over with.

Semi-related, Dan Rafael is such an awful boxing writer.

If GGG didn't want the cash so bad, he should win all the belts and then retire.

I don't think the cash is so much more meaningful to GGG than Canelo. GGG already gets seven figures per fight, and while Canelo gets eight, his draw does take a hit if fans perceive he's ducking GGG, who also happens to be the most lucrative fight available for him right now.

It sucks that GGG isn't bigger, otherwise there'd be some pressure to fight him before he inevitably moves up. But he could sit at 160lbs for years given his size.

^ haha

I hope he does some of the more aggressive stuff like buy up billboards in Canelo's hometown with a pic of Canelo's face on a chicken and/or duck. That would be too funny.

On a more positive note, there's all these rumors about what today's Top Rank/Haymon settlement means. Supposedly they are going to start working together. Makes sense as HBO has a limited budget, would be really good I think if we saw even more fighters available to fight each other...

Haymon and Arum at least grudgingly working together is nothing but great for boxing. Here's hoping that the implications are correct.

Im probably going to miss it and not sure if it's going to be on USAian TV, but if you're watching Parker/Takam and want someone to sweat on the undercard, get on Ben Kite. My coach!
