Think Froch goes the distance against GGG but loses a wide unanimous decision.

Unless it's in the UK in which case Froch will get gifted a decision win just as long as he is standing at the end of the fight.

That said a beatdown leading to an early KO of Froch puts GGG into TBE discussion imo

When it comes to Wlads foes being out of shape, that have always been the case in the hw division.

I agree that this hw division is possibly the weakest of all time but it is not really much worse than the middleweight division of today. I has been almost 11 years since he lost. He is definitely in my top5 p4p list.

He's on my list of top 5 as well.

I think MW is a bit weaker than usual (Barker and Martinez retired, Sturm over the hill for example). It's not so bad though. GGG, Quillin, Cotto, Lee, Geale, Murray. Probably forgetting 1-2 good fighters as well. Even guys like Macklin aren't so bad.

It's also a weird limit. It's only 6 lbs heavier than JMW, which has had a bit of the Floyd/Manny/Cotto effect (like Canelo fighting at 152 so he can bank vs Floyd).

It's sort of like lightweight, a lot of guys move up to 140lbs really quickly to start making real $$$.

HW spans quite a big weight limit, and a lot of cruisers move up to try to make more money.

Thurman v Collazo set for June

I...don't really give a **** about this fight at all

Undefeated prospect Tony Harrison fighting Willie Nelson is a pretty good test fight as the co-main though. It's all on ESPN so I can't complain too much it's pretty darn good for ESPN. Just have no interest watching Collazo after the Khan fight.

Really hope GGG-Froch happens. I seem to be in the minority thinking GGG would be like 3-1 favorite but whatever, I feel good about that fight. I have never fancied Froch much though and probably am biased against him for his douchiness.

Im with you on this one, but my low respect for Mr Froch would be forever high if he actually fought and beat GGG.

He could actually retire with me being a fan of his then.. until that moment ... hes a confirmed pillock in my eyes.

Hopefully froch gets battered and stops appearing on TV talking about the grooves fight.

Just listened to a really good "The Ropes" Grantland boxing podcast where they had Abel Sanchez (GGG's trainer) and Willie Monroe Jr. on. The interesting part for me was Abel essentially saying that he got rid of Kovalev as a fighter because Kovalev is a low character guy and was not someone Sanchez wanted in the gym with him. He wouldn't really get into specifics at all unfortunately and of course could have been sour grapes about Kovalev going to JDJ but he was saying he was the one who told Kovalev's manager to get him another trainer. Also said he thinks GGG and Kovalev could theoretically happen down the road and he has been thinking about it if GGG's career continues for the next couple years like he thinks it will.

Also Mike Perez v Alexander Povetkin tonight on ESPN. Pretty good fight I'm interested in. Winner gets Wilder supposedly I think I read

How have we not heard of Drozd?

they never show cruiserweights on tv in the U.S. really

He looked pretty good but he was like a -3000 bet v that guy when i looked earlier

perez is a 5-1 dog here i guess. seems fair. i was really excited for him after the abasdfadsapdfpoi fight but he has looked really bad since. the draw v takam was really uninspiring and povetkin KOed takam apparently. pretty sad that he basically ended that guy's life- not sure he has been able to regain the killer instinct at all

edit- i like how i had 2 posts this morning with proper caps and punctuation but here i am again rambling. sometimes i tell myself i need to start typing like a regular person because i actually think my horrible internet posting is hurting me IRL but whatever. this is easier. c'est la vie

Wow this intro for Povetkin is way over-the-top. Probably gonna be dead silence for Perez.

Spoiler:
welp

Povetkin just beat his ass KO in round 1

landed some huge clean shots. should really just have stopped it after the KO, he was completely done

def agree that perez may as well hang em up he has been largely trash the last 3 fights i have seen. great KO from povetkin tho

edit- SUB not that it is really the standard here but considering most people have no way of watching this in the states given work until it shows on ESPN tonight, probably a nice idea to put results in spoilers i suppose

Anyway Beltran-Soto added as the co-feature of the Bradley/Vargas card. Not a bad fight between two vets I guess. Probably prefer this even match over some prospect fighting as a 20-1 favorite.

so it turns out i wasn't even right about povetkin-perez being a tape delayed FNF tonight

looks like we get brandom adams v john thompson in the main event. meh. okay prospects

adams lost to willie monroe jr (just fought GGG last weekend) and thompson's only loss is to frank galarzo who is at least a decent undefeated prospect i have seen on shoextreme a couple times

Sounds right. Here are the East Coast USA show times:
Saturday, May 23rd: Live Event - 4:30-6p ET on NBC & 6p-7p ET on NBCSN

Sky sent their own team to do commentary so I have already run into them at the arena. You will get to see my work as they are taking the World Feed video.

Looking forward to this DeGale v Dirrell fight.

Think DeGale wins on points but in a very close decision. Split decision imo

You know, I'm gonna change my mind on this. Can't believe how long it's been since Dirrell actually fought a decent fighter.
