I wish I would have gone, but my friend could not go, so I do not regret passing on going alone. Wouldn't drive 14 hours in 24 hours to watch Crawford Gamboa alone, no lol.

Happy I couldn't find a bet on Crawford by decision, would've hit that one pretty hard too. Luckily only got some good money on Crawford -190 Been running good this year.

Quote:
Gamboa looked absolutely dominant the first 3 rounds. Ninth round was incredible.
This is weird, and most people agree with you. I had it 3-1 Gamboa through 4. I was close to having it 2-2, I really felt Crawford won round 1, nobody did anything for 2 min, then Crawford had a solid last minute, and I thought he edged in that round. Nobody gave him round 1 though, so I let that influence my scoring, giving Gamboa a 3-1 lead through 4.

It was hardly dominant though, nobody really was rocking anyone else, and hardly 10 landed shots (including partial shots) were connecting each round. It was more like the slow fight most of us thought it would be, an outside jabber/partial shot battle, but with Gamboa edging not Crawford edging, through four.

Source - Dan Rafael - Although neither side would disclose the terms of the deal -- or even admit that there was one -- sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com that Mayweather agreed to pay Maidana an additional $1.5 million to change gloves. That doubled Maidana's official purse, which was $1.5 million on his Nevada contract. However, sources told ESPN.com that Maidana was guaranteed $4.2 million and wound up earning at least $5.7 million, including the payment for the gloves change.
So much for me and everyone else thinking Maidana got steamrolled into not wearing the non padded horsehair gloves. Maidana got paaaaid.

Brook v Porter confirmed August 16th at the Stubhub Center in California.

Finally get to see if Kell is the real deal.

The fight will be off before the end of July

he could lose to porter and still be a really good fighter

anyway finally watched the gamboa-crawford fight yesterday. what a fight! one of those fights where both guys win. had a lot of question marks about gamboa going in after htat layoff and lackluster performance and he did well early on. i agree with the majority who have him winning at least 3 of first 4 rounds. but then he really pulled a bradley once he got hit/knocked down. just wild as hell, hands down, tried to use his speed while not havnig good balance from teh punishment. stupid stupid stupid. but crawford looked quite good he could be a great fighter. 140 will be no joke though, i hesitate to crown his ass yet. tons of good fights to be made at least

Oh yeah totally, it's just the British boxing media have built Brook up so much that anything other than a convincing win will be seen as a huge fail. Most are fully expecting Brook to knock Porter out.

yeah we will see

porter still isn't really a name at all in the U.S.A. outside of boxing circles (although much bigger now after the beatdown of paulie) so i think the betting odds will be really interesting

like i have said before i still have yet to see brook fight so i'm looking forward to it. just a relatively weird fight to me since if he loses to porter he is going to have a hard time making a name in the u.s.a unless it was a super exciting fight

Any word if they are gonna put this on Box Office or just Sky Sports? Brook doesn't have that big of a fan base to justify it being on Box Office.

Not a chance in hell Sky put Brook v Porter on Sky Box Office.

I think Porter's style is not so bad for Brook. But I don't see Brook winning, I think he'll be outclassed, outskilled. Unless he rises to the limelight, but he so does not seem like that type of fighter. Should be interesting. May toss a little on Porter, I hate betting on fighters that are so hot and hyped, it's like Porter went from underhyped to overhyped instantly. Then again, Brook isn't exactly underhyped himself.

BTW, in other UK boxing news, Amir Khan Decisions But Does Not KO Two Teens

What Shawn Porter has done in his last three fights is pretty much superior to everything Brook has accomplished in his whole career.

Porter is -200 at best and rightfully so, he's proven himself at a much higher level of competition than Brook. Porter is a champion, Brook is a prospect.

I saw shawn porter at -270 on 5dimes. Might load up on porter. Seems Kell Brook has fought really poor opponents in UK and Porter actually has a solid resume.

I would have let Gamboa at least attempt to get up that last time. I mean less than 10 seconds left in the round.

But yeah. Gamboa does a great Timothy Bradley impression when rocked.

Matthysse vs Broner on the undercard of Mayweather vs Maidana apparently. Wow that would be a great card.

Come on

(Not for the football though)

wow awesome

feel like i am saying this a lot lately which is really weird and stupid because this is great for fans but again i really don't understand why broner would fight someone like lucas at the moment. but...awesome

it's possible he saw something in the molina fight i suppose. i am not as big of a lucas fanboy as most people on here and on BLH but he is fun to watch that's for sure

Any opinions on the Alvarez v Lara bout? I know Canelo pretty well but I haven't seen a lot of Lara. I've got a buddy that bets very big that was asking me about the fight (he pounded Canelo last time).

I got Canelo by KO. Lara got knocked down twice by Angulo and Canelo beat the **** out of him. I know the transitive property isn't fully applicable to boxing, but I'd be betting Canelo by KO.

You could also say that Angulo moves like a turtle and Lara moves like a rabbit, Angulo could not hit Canelo and Lara will certainly be able to land some shots... and Canelo got Angulo out of there only 2 rounds before the fight would've ended, therefore it'll likely go to the cards.

I'm just betting Canelo straight up on this one, but if he hasn't learned how to fight an in and out or movement fighter, I think we're in for a 50-50 boxing match (yes, I think Canelo is as good as Lara boxing wise).

Algieri Manny seems to be very likely for November. All the recipe for a PPV buy disaster, though all the makings for a Manny KO too.

I think Manny would just walk through Algieri. He doesn't have the speed, nor the power, nor the skill to really bother him, nor to stop Manny's assault.

Hearn trying to talk up Froch v De Gale. Can't see Froch going for it though - De Gale is not a good match for him and if he can't get JCC in Vegas he should show enough sense to retire.
