Despite not really having a competitive fight among all four and a really strange ending to the main event, a summarily satisfying fight night imo.

Already looking forward to next weekend.

Man, talk about perfect matchmaking. Alvarez couldn't have looked better. And he needed it after just standing in front of Floyd for 12 rounds. Good for him. I like both fighters, but as someone pointed to pac v margarito, the guy with the faster hands will repeatedly get off first and if the slugger cannot wear him down, it looks like what we had tonight.

Good for canelo tho, glad to see him look good after Floyd shut him out.

Alvarez up to 160 next time out? Maybe Quillin or Cotto if he loses to Martinez.

Most lopsided card I've seen in awhile, disappointed we couldn't see Molina Charlo fight. Santa Cruz's opponent was pathetic. Great to see Canelo's brother lose though, that guy would've been blasted by Figuroa.

Canelo looked good, similar to Manny Rios imo, not Margarito Manny (Margarito was far bigger than Manny and didn't move in that fight, though he did bust Manny up, whereas in this fight Canelo hardly got hit and he didn't need to move around either).

Angulo looked terrible, no pop at all on his punches. He's peaked probably. Needs to fight weaker competition. Wouldn't mind him trying to fight a Charlo or something, but as far as challenging the class of the division (which Canelo and probably Lara are), he's done. Felt bad for him at the end.

Stoppage was fine, Hunter was at least saying he was close to stopping it and so was the doctor, so after Angulo gave that weak start to round 10 with a few slappy punches then got rocked with a wind up uppercut, no need to continue. Can call it premature, but nobody in their right mind would believe anything would happen other than a few years off Angulo's life. He just couldn't compete tonight in any category.

Hope Canelo fights Lara next, might as well try to clean out the division (nobody else is worth his time/money, and Lara isn't even a big name, but has the talent), then move up and fight Quillin. Then hope the cold war is done or bolt to Top Rank because there's almost nobody at 160lbs for GB. If Cotto wins, that's a great option too, Cotto at 154-160 is an option at any point due to $$$, but probably looks a lot like tonight, just not quite as brutal.

Lara is boring. It would be way closer, but also less fun imo

Lol the Froch brothers towards the end.

I've somehow gone full circle with my like for Groves before the first fight which has gradually turned to dislike. He's quite simply starting to get on my nerves now, hope Froch KO's him tbh.

Lee Froch would be a complete embarrassment to any family expect Froch's.

The whole family are a bunch of **** really ..

Lee " i live off my brother " Froch will no doubt brick it completely when he has 60k Groves fans breathing down his neck at Wembley

I don't even like Froch much anymore, just feel like Groves has began to believe his own hype a bit, comes across awkward and unfunny to me.

Interestingly Shawn Porter looks set to fight Paulie Malignaggi in April with the winner to fight Kell Brook in July.

Uh oh indeed for Floyd, I can't imagine that's going to work out too well for him.

$$$ didn't keep him out of jail before. Granted, it's TMZ and some of the source comments like "straight up breaking bad ****" seem more in line with sensationalism than factual accounts. Worth keeping an eye on though, see if it has any legs.

Porter Paulie - Cool clash of styles fight. Neither punches very hard (especially Paulie), and both can take a punch. I'd like to think Porter wins this, but by no means is that clear to me and it should be a fun fight that leans on the active side (no way Porter sits there and boxes, he'll move in and Paulie will be forced to trade a lot more than in recent bouts).

Marquez Alvarado May 17th - I can't think of a better fight for Alvarado (defined as in I want to see it). I'd rather see Marquez fight Provo or Rios, but oh well. Should be interesting, I'd favor Marquez but I can see Alvarado winning too. It's at 143, so Alvarado shouldn't be so weight drained as his last fight. My best guess is Marquez by decision, I'll have to keep an eye on that line.

JMM needs a bounce back win after losing to Bradley.

Should probably consider retirement if he loses to Alvarado.

He'll prolly make like 5 mil to fight the loser of Bradley Paq if he loses to Alvarado. What's ridiculous is that Provo demolishes Alvarado, yet Provo doesn't get a slot in the eliminator, two guys coming off of losses do.

Yes, this is the world (of boxing) that we live in.

Pretty ridic about Alvarado having a shot at the title.

Lara and Ishe Smith supposedly on for a May 2nd fight on Fox Sports 1

yawn but at least lara gets a bit of a viewership which might make the canelo fight more likely

edit- actually this might have the opposite of the desired effect heh

also i'm reading the current dan rafael chat and who wouldn't want to see ortiz-berto fight again? basically a fun fight between two people who have done nothing but gone downhill since they last fought each other in a fight of the year. loser will prob kill themself but whatever

If Deontay Wilder shows any semblance of defensive skills, he could be a solid competitor for the HW title.

Totally agree, although that's a big "if" since we still really know nothing about his defense, or chin.

That said, Wilder-Anthony Joshua is one of my future dream matchups, two basically unproven guys who have worlds of potential.
