I think Angulo plays well into Canelo's hands. Canelo should fight very well against a fighter that comes at him and is there to be hit back. Canelo has great hand speed and power, and he can dodge well enough too.

Floyd exploited Canelo in a lot of ways that Angulo could never even dream of.

I'm more concerned about Canelo vs Lara, not bc I think Lara is necessarily all that, but bc of the style matchup. Canelo does have the speed to hit Lara though, but as Trout showed, footwork is important (Trout looked dumbfounded about how to attack a movement fighter once he realized he couldn't out run and jab the running jabber Lara). I don't think Canelo's footwork is all that good.

I'm not betting on this fight though, but if I did it'd be Canelo. Maybe it's a leak, I rarely bet on big favorites. Probably a leak.

Wish Angulo beat Lara, it'd probably be like 2-1 or 3-1.

Wouldn't hate this, Angulo is pretty damn cool.

I am super excited for Saturday
I agree, gonna watch it at a local theater (why don't they do this more often, $18 to go see a PPV fight on a big screen? I'm there).

If he didn't get knocked out by Garcia, then Khan would have a case that Floyd is dodging him but it's just that Maidana would be a more entertaining fight.
Guerrero and Canelo weren't brawlers. Neither was Marquez. Neither was DLH.

Cotto and Castillo fought him more like brawls and had a little bit and a lot of success respectively. Then again, Hatton was brawling and he had zero success.

That's why I think Khan has no point.

Additionally, fast hands don't make up for losing 2 of 4 or whatever and looking bad in your most recent win. When fast hands can hardly beat washed up veterans, how are they supposed to be effective against the best counter puncher/punch timing/footwork artist in the game? I never got that.

In Floyd's fight, no. But Canelo and Guerrero were picked because of their highly aggressive style that Mayweather felt he could easily exploit, which he did contrary to what C.J. Ross thought.

If Khan wasn't exposed for having a glass jaw, I think him fighting Floyd would be more entertaining. Floyd doesn't knock guys out these days (not counting that BS KO of Ortiz). He outboxes them to decision victories. That would suit Khan perfectly.

Thurman and Mattyhsse to possibly share a card on April 26th. No word on opponents yet. Not each other.

Also rumors that Broner is gonna fight John Molina on May 3rd. Bleh. Don't really know the guy except for his crazy win on shobox where he was getting his ass beat and then won with a flash KO Randall Bailey style. I think Broner prob should take a fight like this though. Broner-Khan would be way better, but possibly disastrous for his career

Khan-Collazo might make some sense next

I wish the undercard was a bit more competitive. It should be good for action but not really competitiveness except for Molina-Charlo which is almost gtd to be boring unless you are a pretty huge boxing purist.

Whether Molina-Charlo goes off is still very much in question at this point..

Yea that's a valid point

now I can not like molina for more than just his style

as an addendum, for those of you who forgot, molina destroyed kirkland until the lol ref gave away the fight....and molina got dismantled by khan, and his fight with ishe smith was like watching paint dry

The most hilarious part about that fight was that one of the worst judges in the history of boxing, Gale Van Hoy, had Kirkland winning on points at the time the fight was stopped.

lol Texas.

lol Texas is just a boxing nightmare

As a side note, Nihito Arakawa will be fighting on the undercard. For those who don't recognize the name:

I also recognize the ref by him completely ignoring all of Arakawa's low blows lol

Quillin is another consistently avoided fighter. Not as bad as GGG and a few others, but still damn bad.

Who avoids Quillin? He's on the bad side of the cold war, is there anyone good that he can really fight at 160lbs that doesn't have their USA rights tied to HBO?

GB has some strong 154 guys, maybe someone can move up in the next year. Canelo would be a super middleweight if they weighed people in prior to the fight instead of the day before, lol (wouldn't that be more fair for fights?), maybe he'll move up for 2015 if he can beat Angulo, Molina, Lara in a row or something. Or move up to face Cotto at 160lbs if Cotto takes Martinez's title.

Sucks that probably two undercard title fights have been cancelled, while I agree some of these weren't going to be competitive, you have to hand it to Goldenboy for trying to make at least 3 legitimate title fights on one card. Really wanted to see the other Charlo brother take Molina out, kinda puts Alvaraez in a weird spot if he beats Angulo (maybe makes him take only 2 fights this year, which would suck, or makes him face Lara sooner, which would be good).

Update - Molina fight off, Molina seems to be in some serious trouble. Weird that he's been living illegally in the US (according to his attorney) for like 7 years and has had a warrant out for his arrest in Wisconsin since 2007? That seems bizarre to me. Interesting read here - http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...fense-canceled

I agree with ChicagoRy. But he also doesn't have the name recognition or the resume to get in the ring with the top guys yet. There seems to a lack of big name gatekeepers in the division as well.

I think Cotto has a decent chance to beat Martinez, and if he does, Quilllen should be in line for a shot late this year or early next year. Cotto has more say in his matchmaking, and rarely fights undeserving opponents. Martinez is far too inactive and at the tale end of a wonderful career. Big money fights are his only concern.

If Arakawa fights anything like he did against Figueroa tomorrow, his fight against Linares will be a hell of a show.

They should start canceling these fights to truly punish the fighters who game the system. Little pitty-pat fines won't do dick.

Lol, easy mistake to make, but that was the other Carlos Molina who got beat by Amir Khan. That Molina-Ishe was indeed terrrrible, haha.
