When you're ****ing with your opponent the way DeGale is, you're either fighting a last minute fill in opponent or you selected too soft of an opponent.

DeGale doesn't even look that great, he's fighting a guy that has no power and isn't very active.

Maybe I'm being too hard on DeGale here because it bugs me that he's doing a broke man's version of Sergio Martinez by sticking his chin out there. And a lot of dancing around too, I hate the crap.

Can't help but think we learned nothing new about DeGale tonight. His next opponent sounds like top 20 though, so at least we got that to look towards.

*If there's any time for an absolute robbery decision, I would actually find this to be a hilarious spot for it.

So e-rod made the 180 weight limit (weighed 179.8). Apparently Ward wants them to takes 45% of his purse or fight might be off.

I dunno. Card already started, so I'm assuming fight will likely continue. As much as Ward wants to enforce the rules, I'm sure he would like to receive his compensation much more. He won't get paid if fight doesn't happen, so I'm sure it will happen.

Ward has a good point, at least about 35%. I mean, he seems to have known Rodriguez was struggling to make weight awhile ago. And if he would've known the WBO was going to cut the minimum penalty down, he might not have agreed to a fight where Rodriguez gets 1 mil.

That's a realistic part of negotiations that's supposed to be constant... if a fighter doesn't make weight 35% is fined (and I'd imagine more than 10% in that case goes to the other fighter).

Well, he got hit by Rodriguez a few seconds after he (Lampley) was holding Ward (which was a few seconds after Lampley yelled stop punching).

So I mean, given he got hit by a fighter, I think it was fine. A little drawn out, but that's just a style thing. It wasn't out of line imo.

-2 pts to Ward was fine too bc Ward was the one that kept punching after he said stop fighting (Rodriguez then retaliated and hit Lampley).

And given how the rest of the fight went the ends did justify the means as well. Less rabbit punching from Rodriguez and nobody was hitting after the call from there on out.
