Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

i had it 7-5 Marquez (Marquez won the 12th, that near knockdown was not enough to give to Bradley). I fully expected a draw because i thought the judges were going to give the final round to Bradley for that final shot. and after taking a look at the scorecards, its clear that this sport is a joke and these people clearly dont know what they are watching (except the guys that had it 115-113 Marquez and 114-114 Canelo/Mayweather).

Marquez won imo, there were definitely a few close rounds, and the only way you get a Bradley win is if all those early rounds go to Bradley. because Marquez easily won 4 of the final 5 rounds. but that scorecard that has Bradley winning by 4 gave most of the final rounds to Bradley. LOL. whatever you say you dumb *****.

and Lederman. srsly wtf is he even watching. this dude is a clown and if he had any dignity, he would quit. this isnt the first time hes had a retarded scorecard and it wont be the last.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I had Timmy winning 8-4. JMM couldn't really get off as his lolmovement has always been bad and at 40 it's even worse now ldo. TB with a great gameplan and executed it very well.

Timmy vs Danny Garcia would be nice

"I've been robbed six times in my career. I clearly won the fight."

What a drama queen Marquez is. Great fighter but I really dislike the amount of whining he does. Losing a close fight does not equal a robbery. You've been robbed once in your career Juan Manuel (Pac 3) now get over it.

I've followed Lomachenko's progress over the last couple of years so it was great to see him in his pro debut, he looked really good but putting him in with Salido in his 2nd fight seems like madness.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

eh i'd have to rewatch pac/marquez 3 which was def the worst of the rivalry but i didn't think marquez got robbed really

tons of close rounds iirc. maybe if you rewatch it you see marquez slightly winning like 9 rounds or something but i don't think it was a robbery. I *could* be wrong but I didn't think many rounds were clear at all when watching it live

also marquez should just retire

not that he looks shot by any means really but i see no fight really that interests me that would also give him a big payday. He has his money and nothing left to prove

inb4 the hyperpartisan marquez fans get mad at me

If Lomachenko beats Salido, then Rigo might be next. 2 two-time olympic gold medalists going at it at the pro level would be sick.

Marquez vs Provodkinov would be good.

I agree about no massive payday matchups, but he did just lose a big fight.

I think it'll probably be more about if he wants to fight any more, rather than if he can get a big fight. He's a big draw and should make millions fighting anyone, and a guy like Provodkniov would be a good clash of styles I think. He's a little more of a brawler and he's slower than Bradley or Manny so he shouldn't exploit Marquez lack of movement or aggression like Bradley did. Winnable and entertaining type fight.

That was a hard fight to score. No idea how you could get 98-92 tho.
holy **** Carla Ciaz. We only agree on Rds 6&7 despite having identical final scores.

The only person I know who comes close is GGG at 345-5.

Though Ward might have been undefeated as an amateur but he wasn't.

Pretty cool that Adonis Stevenson is fighting again right away. Bellew is probably better than Cloud too, right?

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Power punches

Marquez: 115 / 286
Bradley: 86 / 225

I haven't rewatched the fight yet, and probably wont. I doubted myself when i had it so close when everyone else in this thread and sky sports / hbo had it very clear for Bradley.

The compubox (for what they are worth) seems to indicate some of you were influenced by lol commentators. It's seemingly a very hard fight to score going by numbers alone.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I thought this was a fight that was very well scored. For a change, I thought the judges had it good and the media blew it.

Not all thought Bradley killed it though. Rafael, among others, thought it was a very close fight.

In a close fight when one opponent is faster and busier (Bradley), a fighter like Marquez needs to realize that he needs to pursue a bit harder and land some more punches.

I thought this was a fair bit closer than Barker Geale (though not nearly as good of a fight).

It's easy to imagine possible bias: speed, surprisingly sticking to a great strategy and avoiding exchanges on Bradley's side, with an inevitable "if you don't hit him with huge shots you look worse than expected after Manny KO" + throwing less punches on Marquez side.

I guess we see Bradley vs Manny II after (if) Manny beats Rios. That'll probably be another barn burner.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I thought Bradley won a close fight. I seem to remember there being roughly 5 clear rounds for Bradley 3 for Marquez and 4 that were very close.

The punch stats aren't very interesting, boxing is scored round by round.

Yeah and that's why you look at stats for each round. Marquez outlanded Bradleys power punches in 9/12 rounds, landed less in 2/12 and landed an equal amount in 1 round.

If we count both jabs and power punches the most significant round for Bradley was the 7th where he landed 19 vs. 13 punches but where he lost the power punches by 4-8.

I'm not saying these numbers say everything as there is more than raw data to go by when judging a fight. All i'm saying is almost none of the rounds were "crystal clear" as some claimed in this thread and it certainly was not "easy to score" as Howard Lederman put it.

I'm fine with Bradley winning. I suspect i would score it 115-113 for Bradley if i watched it again. I'm just putting it out there that some people may have a different view on how clear this fight was due to, seemingly, horrible commentating.

Yeah I was listening to sky and it was awful. They were acknowledging throughout the fight that there were quite a few close rounds yet seemed to completely forget this when the decision was announced.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Chavez - Vera rematch seems to be in the making for February. 168 lbs. "Here we go again" with the weight. Really cool if Vera gets a rematch. The bigger matchups must've told camp Chavez that he needs a more convincing performance to make those fights (or Chavez camp is smart and realizes Chavez would get schooled vs most of the better fighters the way he fought his last fight). Either way, awesome opportunity for Vera (and an opportunity for Chavez to redeem himself).

Seems Stevenson and Kovalev are destined to fight. Sergey is fighting on the Adonis undercard end of November and it looks like they are setting the two up to fight in early 2014. Awesome matchup, hope it happens.

Question about the past PPV event on Sat. 10/12. Anyone know what time it started and ended on east coast? My friend had to pay $20 cover charge at sports bar and had no interest in watching. He stayed for an hr from 10-11 PM and said there were 3 people at bar when he left. Wants to see if he can get $ back if it started at 11.
