Garcia vs. Broner/Maidana would be pretty cool.
Actually Matthysse vs. Either of those would also be pretty damn cool!
Garcia rematch with Khan could be good given Khan beats Devon.

Bradley, Marquez (i think?), Pacquiao, Provodnikov, Rios and Alvarado are all Top Rank.

It shows how good the 140/147 divisions are that are so many great fights can be made either side of the GB/TR divide.

yeah especially 140 is stacked. And most 140's are large for their weight and most 147's are small for their weight.

Danny Garcia is the type of guy where the whole adds up to more than the sum of the parts. I think that's the reverse concept of some investing reference I've picked up over the years (wrt to spinoffs if anyone cares)

All Floyd did is hit your boy twice as much. How does that happen when all he is doing is running all over the ring.

just wanted to let everyone know that i just got done watching the replay of the fight and 7-5 mayweather is probably better than 6-6. but like i said, this should have still been enough for CANELO to earn a rematch.

how many times do we have to tell you that you are wrong? Mayweather connected twice as many times as Canelo, so how can he only win 7 rounds?

I get that Mattysse's eye sealed the deal for Garcia, but:

1.) Garcia was the one who blew up the eye because Mattysse had no answer for Garcia's left jabs and hooks. Not like he ran into a door pre-fight for bad luck.

2.) Garcia showed monster chin. Mattysse pounded Garcia with a few blows and Garcia only had one incident where it looked like a big hook hurt him. He consistently recovered.

Agreed a rematch would probably be even better than this last weekend's matchup and not saying Garcia has a huge advantage, but Garcia didn't win for some little lucky break. He legitimately won the inside battle with the jab, blew up Mattysse's face, and had no problems taking big hits and countering with combos Mattysse couldn't defend.

Hell, I wanna see these guys every 5-6 months for another year. Give us two more, Golden Boy!

I had it 11-1. I could see it 10-2, but that's about it.

Mad props to Garcia, I was part of the Matthysse-by-early-KO contingent, but Garcia won that fight. "Close yet clear" is a nice description.

Curtis Stevens-Roman or Ayala
Mikey Garcia-Juanma

Thompson-Price
Mikey Garcia-Juanma
Jhonny Gonzalez-Mares
Adonis-Chad Dawson (my pick)

I went to my first pro boxing event this weekend in Edmonton on Friday night as one of my friends is a pro boxer and he wanted the support. A couple of things that surprised me:

1. How many fans showed up to the event without there being very many big names on the card.
2. How little the people on the undercards make in relation to the main event.
3. How quickly and unnecessarily some corners stop fights. The 2 main events of the evening were both stopped by corner stoppages way to prematurely. It seems as though they were simply looking for a payday for being part of the main event.
4. How terrible poker players concussed & drunk boxers are after fighting previously that evening.

I always think the ko of the year should be a clean knockout. So I wouldn't go with a few of those like Garcia, Gonzalez and Thompson. Golovkin-Ishida was nice as was that Curtis Stevens one but they were not particularly significant fights. Golovkin-Macklin would still be my leader with Stevenson 2nd. If Dawson had stayed down instead of getting up before 10 that would be my leader too.

Yeah, I agree, I realized later that a couple of those weren't clean. I guess I'd say for me, in big/title fights, the leaders in the clubhouse are Golovkin, Golovkin, and Stevenson.

There's a couple more candidates towards the end of the year I think. Adonis is fighting again, Pac-Rios, Alvarado-Ruslan, Nonito trying replicate his 2007 KO of the year vs. Darchinyan, and GGG-Stevens. Maybe GGG can land a left hook to Stevens' liver at exactly the same moment Stevens lands a perfect left on Golovkin's chin for a potential Double-KO of the year candidate.

Plus I feel like Amir Khan is a candidate to be on the receiving end every time he fights, no matter who's in the other corner, and we likely get to see him try again one more time this year.

Golovkin-Macklin would be my leader in significant fights.

If we are talking about televised fights (but not necessarily big/significant fights) then I think the clear leader is Javier Fortuna on Friday Night Fights backs in April. He knocks down Miguel Zamudio in the first minute with a devastating left hook. Zamundio somehow gets up and then gets knocked into next week several seconds later. Zamudio was out cold for over 11 minutes and had to be taken out of the ring on a stretcher. One of the most devastating KO's I've ever seen.

Here's the video. Be sure to watch the replay for a different angle.

Close call, I LOVE Stevens's KO of Saul Roman. That Fortuna KO is a thing of beauty though! We could have, like, the NABF belt equivalent of KO OTY, one for big/title fights, another for the smaller-card-KO-OTY, lol.

A few rumours going around that George Groves has parted company with Adam Booth which obviously seems a bit strange leading up to the biggest fight of his life.
