I feel bad for Matthysse. Even with the eye injury he made it close, I would favour him in a rematch.

Mayweather is amazingly talented but that was the worst fight entrance of all time. Also I assume that Tank fella is connected to the money team? What an embarrassment he was.

Danny Garcia or the winner of Khan vs Alexander up next for Floyd then. How exciting.

The Oscar DLH fight was the blueprint of how to beat Floyd. You gotta pressure his ass and Canelo just didn't do that.

Don't think it matters who he fights next, the result will be the same. Maybe GGG will be the man to do it. Will PBF fight him tho???

And this guy

It's unreasonable to expect Floyd to fight GGG or Martinez. Floyd is not even a big welter.

Canelo's size on the night is probably not too far from GGG, unless Golovkin blows up after the weigh in too, not sure if he does. If not the fight could be made but would be obv disadvantage with his power. Maybe a catch weight

What KO of the year contenders have there been so far? Golovkin vs Macklin is the best I can think off. Anyway I think Haye has a good shot at it in 2 weeks.

lol calm down mate. Danny Garcia won a close decision after a big slice of luck went his way.

wasnt close. if bashing your opponent's eye up such that he cant see any more is luck then yea he got lucky

It was close. Two judges had it 114-112. Also it tends to be a single punch that causes the slit eye and it is a fairly freak occurence so yes it was lucky.

Matthysse won the fight up until he got his eye swollen shut. To say it wasn't close is kind of lol.

Garcia clearly won, but i think a rematch would be a tossup. Clearly the two best at 140.

Fight wasn't close (as in garcia clearly won) but the swollen eye could have been caused by a headbutt.

Which is sort of luck.

It can be close and clear.

Yeah a football game that end 3-2 can be very close yet it's quite clear who won.

Anyway, good for Garcia. He showed a lot of guts to fight Matthysse even when everyone thought he would get ko'd. I hope we get to see a rematch.

Prob. just trolling but Memo is claiming JMM wants a second shot at Mayweather =/ He has to do better than he did last time I guess.

all reports say eye was caused by an accidental headbutt.

Up until then, Lucas was doing well.

Enough time has probably passed that the casual fans will forget how one-sided it was.

JMM's body does seem a lot better now compared to when he fought floyd.

Way more muscular.

I have a feeling Danny Garcia's success is coming in spite of his ****** dad.

A rematch would be great.

I don't have a list of who fights under Goldenboy vs Top Rank in front of me, but there should be some other intriguing matchups for these two, especially if they're willing to jump up to 147. Things will be interesting for all but Floyd (honestly who the hell is he going to fight next?) in a few months after the dust settles.

I thought Matthyse won some of the earlier rounds and Garcia pulled away late. The fight seemed to change a lot after that eye. Not that Matthyse was dominating before the eye, but he seemed to be winning.

Once the eye was swollen up bad, it looked like Matthyse could no longer dodge the left hook he was doing a pretty good job of avoiding, and he just got hit a lot more when moving into Garcia later in the fight.

No excuse or anything, Garcia fought the way he was supposed to, didn't give into trading punches, had a better jab (out of two non jabbing fighters), a good chin in a few spots and the left hook was as good as ever.

I didn't think it was that close. When I used to watch Floyd fights I thought they were far closer, but after rewatching fights you can see how many shots simply do not land on Floyd. He wins rounds, pure and simple. It helps if you don't have the sound blasted (all the Floyd haters go nuts whenever an opponent winds up for a punch, landed or not). I was out, luckily, so I didn't have the crowd subjectivity bothering my eyes.

Remind me why people don't like Danny Garcia the fighter? (i.e. take his dad out of the equation)
I don't know that people don't like him (I don't hear a lot of people hating on him). People dislike his dad obviously, and people thought Matthyse would win (and totally justified I think).

I don't get this "he's a B fighter at everything, not great at anything" stuff though.

He clearly has a top notch left hook and chin. Those are two real skills that people tend to overlook when saying he's just an all around good fighter, not great at anything.

I guess it's because his right tends to be a sloppy roundhouse sometimes, and he doesn't jab a lot, and he's not super fast, so people tend to say he's not very talented. Just an unorthodox set of skills maybe for a top fighter, but skilled no doubt.
