great fight - weird ending

the referee was way to far away from the guys to interrupt the fight - def his fault, so aa continued punching

Abraham_LOL...I missed the fight because I was at the Leafs-Rangers game tonight.

Wow is all I have to say. Wow.

Dirrel fought a great fight. You can tell Dirrel does his homework because his approach to this fight was quite different and this was a tougher opponent.

Abraham proved he's a punk. He complained about low blows constantly. He got what he deserved as that was a blatant tilt shot while the guy was down. Hopefully he hasn't ruined Dirrel's career/life with that cowardly punch. His reaction after the fight was despicable. I really want to see this guy take a brutal beating.

Well, Dirrell showed the blueprint of how to beat AA. AA was exposed a bit, IMO.

I also enjoyed the Maidana-Cayo fight. Maidana is one of my fav active fighters. If Khan ever steps up to fight him, he's getting KO'd for the 2nd time.

Yeah I like Maidana too. I would really like to see him and Edwin Valero fight. Unfortunately Valero might be getting into some legal trouble.

When are they going to require some kind of standards for non-slip paint for the logos getting painted on the ring canvas? Boxing is tough enough without your footing slipping and sliding all over the place. They spend big money putting these boxing events on. It's ridiculous that they put no thought into what the logos paint does to the boxers' footing. It's ridiculous and as this fight shows, dangerous.

I just saw the replay, and my first reaction was "wow, this is some of the worst acting I have ever seen in my life."

Whether Dirrel was acting or not, getting DQ'd for hitting a guy while he is down is completely standard.

No way Dirrell was acting. He was knocked out cold.

100% std, 100% deserved, pretty pathetic from Abraham, but I'm just saying that my first impression of that reaction was "wow, embellished"

Yeah I'm not sure how hurt he was and I can see your point of view there. His reaction to the punch was definitely a little delayed. Really I hope he was faking because I want to see him improve and keep fighting against these top fighters. I'd just hate to see another guy with a lot of talent get turned into Meldrick Taylor.

Lot of fights this past weekend. My thoughts...

Abraham-Dirrel: Dirrel was dominant throughout the fight and it's unfortunate that Abraham's illegal punch had to make the fight sorta anti-climatic. It was a horrible move by Abraham and you really can't argue that it was unintentional based on the replay. In the replay you see him **** back his punch and the distance between him and Dirrel was far enough for him to see that Dirrel's knees were on the ground through his peripheral vision. Abraham at the end looked like a guilty man, not a person who felt he lost unfairly.

Maidana-Cayo: I was really looking forward to this match.... especially after Maidana's fight against Ortiz. A classic boxer vs. puncher/slugger/infighter. Stacked 140 lbs division I must say! Maidana showed through this fight that he's definitely the fighter to watch from this point on. This was the best fight out of all the fights that were out last weekend. Maidana definitely needs to work on his boxing more to be a more complete fighter. His lack of some boxing skills (ex. not enough jabs, head movement, etc.) is made up by his pure punching power and heart of a champion. I truly believe he's capable of creating another Gatti vs. Ward situation with the right opponent.

Here's round 9 of Gatti vs. Ward for those who don't know what I'm talking about. ( MUST WATCH for those that didn't watch it)

Gamboa vs. Barros: Nothing much to say here... Gamboa just owned Barros.

Went to AA-AD I thought a riot was going to break out if Dirrell didn't win. To say there was a bunch of shady gangsters in the crowd was an understatement. Only a couple of waterbottles ended up being thrown at AA, and Dirrell's brother tried to fight him lol. It was my first pro boxing event after going to 5 or 6 UFC's and boxing blows away live MMA. So hard to see anything in MMA, and it seems like every seat in the house has a great view in boxing.

I'll tell you the answer to that... it's simply the heart of two warriors not willing to give in. This is boxing!

If I was Dirrell's brother, I would have done the same. That shot was really dirty.

This is nothing against MMA, but I just find boxing more visually pleasing to watch than MMA. Although boxing is technically a western martial art, there's too much hugging and grappling in MMA fights in general (which is obvious because there's a whole bunch of wrestlers and Jiu jitsu artists). I find submissions rather boring.

Gotta give a shout out to former WBO Heavyweight champion Ray Mercer though.... he's in his late 40's and knocked out a former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia.

Haye vs Ruiz weigh in:

Haye - 15st 12lbs

Ruiz - 16st 7lbs - looks fat, wouldnt take shirt off (but then vs Haye's ridiculously ripped body why would you?)

Yup, only way Haye can lose is if he gets overconfident. I stupidly booked derren brown tickets on the same night so I'll be sitting there listening on the iphone, wonder if psychic boy will realize!

I watch all the UK PPV boxing on MyP2P with Sopcast... nothing worse than spending 15 smackers on a boring fight .. or a 5 minute fight .

I would also love to see Jones beat Hopkins again ..

This fight is a farce nowdays and the only reason its going ahead is because Hopkins cant forget the intitial beating he got off Jones ..

I expect Hopkins to win easily ... but would love to see Jones do another number on him ... Hopkins would never get over it if Jones beat him again ..

Anyone see the countdown for RJJ vs. Hopkins how weird is their trainer? He could be the biggest tool in the history of Earth.
