lol Alvarez is gonna get pwned if the rehydration rumor is true.

Otherwise this could be a fight where PBF bit off more than he could chew.

I have no problem with catchweights (other than that they should NOT count as titles), but LOL at those who criticise others for catchweight bouts, then sign them themselves.

I actually really like catchweights

otherwise fights like these never happen

belts really mean **** to me

I have a problem with catchweights if:

1) They drain the other fighter, like with Oscar. But Oscar was the one trying to pick on a tiny guy he thought he'd for sure would beat so **** him.

2) They count as titles. Especially when you want to use it for promotion like omg he won a title in his 300th class!

Obviously LOL Floyd for criticizing Pac and doing it himself. I don't think it's a big deal performance wise but given his arguments against Pac, yeah, lol.

Canelo coming in at 154 (2lbs over, like Floyd with Marquez) and paying Floyd a few hundred K like it's not big deal would be a complete BOSS move.

Read this opened at -250. Quite what i expected. It's definitely his biggest threat out there and probably comparable with Pac 2010.

Oh and this is also a fight where i can see either guy getting a corrupt decision. It's probably in GBP best interest if Canelo wins (rematch, possibly a trilogy + the next 10-15 years with Canelo)

Rehydration clause would be so stupid, but boxing is so LOL it would not surprise me.

in the middle (well 9th round) of rewatch of froch/kessler on HBOGO (originally i had to watch on some garbage stream) and all I can think about is how england needs a contender in every division. good god the crowds are so much better and boxing is one sport where crowd noise can influence referees to a ridiculous amount. They put american crowds to absolute shame. I don't know if they are just drunker or what but they are amazing in every single fight

edit-just finished. moot point because froch won round 12 but I think u could make the argument for a draw if he hadnt won that last minute of the fight bad to win the last round. regardless, I think there should be a third. I would not bet a dime to a dollar on either of these guys vs. ward I think they have no chance but a third fight would be great

I'm very surprised this is happening now, am I right in thinking that Canelo has never even headlined a PPV on his own before? I thought they would get him a couple of high profile victories over the likes of Miguel Cotto and Victor Ortiz and then make the fight. If they left it a year it would have a chance of being the biggest PPV ever. As it is it's a hardcore fan's dream but it's no Floyd-Pac or Floyd-Oscar. I wonder if Floyd really did "choose" Canelo or his hand was forced somewhat by the rumoured poor sales of his Guerrero fight?

As for the catchweight it's slightly annoying.

100% hope this happens. But as Floyd is dictating terms and, unlike in the Marquez fight where he was in danger of being the one overweight rather than his opponent, I wouldn't be surprised if the penalty for being a couple of pounds over is a lot more severe.

Shocking UK news!!

Carl Frampton has left Eddie Hearn to join Frank Warren which certainly bucks the trend. Seems like a stupid move, apparently Barry McGuigan was getting greedy and wanted to co-promote and Eddie told him to f*** off. Frampton looks like the real deal so hopefully his career doesn't stagnate from here.

the brooklyn crowds have been pretty good, especially compared to most vegas ones. the zab judah v danny garcia fight is a good example of this, and think they'll be good for broner/malignaggi.

not to compare it to that crazy london crowd tho. them peeps were going nuts over combos that werent even landing just as much as they were over clean punches.

I was aware. And hope I'm mostly wrong. The hype will be good, and think we could be looking at one of the biggest PPV in modern history. But also, this is going to happen on Floyd's terms. And keeping his record as undefeated is a big part of that.

Stephen A Smith said on First Take that he was told by Mayweather's people that Canelo is the one who brought up the catchweight. LOL what a bitch. are we really suppose to believe that?

Froch is really saying some dumb crap after his win over Kessler.

I think Calzaghe needs to come out of retirement and put this pillock in his place ..

Get Matthysse-Garcia done for 9/7!!! Then Money-Canelo the next weekend. Ohmygod.

I made a list of all the fights I'm excited for still to come this year that have been inked, just for fun, so I could see them all together. I'm going to the Vegas ones, minus PPVs, starting with next weekend's TR card at Hard Rock. (Jesse Magdaleno gonna beast up!) No announcement yet, but I'm betting the Ishe Smith defense will end up on Showtime.

Sooooo many fun scraps coming up!!

Solo Boxeo Tecate at The Joint (Vegas)
Chad Dawson - Adonis Stevenson
Marcos Maidana - Josesito Lopez
Erislandy Lara - Alfredo Angulo
Mikey Garcia - Juan Manuel Lopez
Paulie Malignaggi- Adrien Broner
Gennady Golovkin - Matthew Macklin
Tony Thompson - David Price
ESPN Friday Night Fights at Texas Station (Vegas)
Bernard Hopkins - Karo Murat
Ishe Smith - Carlos Molina at The Joint (Vegas)
Andre Berto - Jesus Soto Karass
Daniel Geale - Darren Barker
Floyd Mayweather - Canelo Alvarez
Juan Manuel Marquez - Tim Bradley
Manny Pacquiao - Brandon Rios

Plus waaaay more other tilts going down. July cards in Monaco and Macau. JCC Jr. coming back. Andre Ward coming back someday? Ward-Jr? I'd love to see Ward take on JCC, even if I think Ward would take him apart. ...Maybe especially because I think Ward would take him apart!

yeesh, that is a nice lineup for future bouts.

jcc vs ward would be megaelite if paired with jmm/bradley or pac/rios as a co-main event. not sure how great it'd be for the actual fighters themselves, but for fans it would really kick ass.

Hell yeah Bute-Pascal. Hell yeah Amir Khan in December - no opponent yet so I didn't list him.. but thinking about all the boxers that don't have an upcoming fight or opponent yet is also pretty damn fun.

Plus all the prospect fighters that are still building names and all the less notable guys doing work, some of these undercards are gonna be real entertaining.
