Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

It's probably very close to accurate or the sharp money would be coming in on the "good" side.

The fight will probably be very close. Most will possibly give it to Marquez again. But who are we kidding? Every toprank fight goes as Bob Arum wants it to go.
He had something to gain by Bradley beating Pac.
Nothing to gain by Marquez doing so.

Yea those are the kind of factors I'm talking about (Bradley/Pac). Sport disgusts me sometimes.

Not weird, as a casual boxing fan I would rather see this over boring Mayweather fights.

If he is on roids Angel knows what he's doing, doubt we'll have a Fernando Vargas like crash.

edit: weigh in @ 6 et

Marquez expected to come in at 144 and swole

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Marquez is going to have to do everything perfect and get a little help from the judges who may feel that he got screwed one too many times. Some of those judges might be thinking about those past fights and slip a round or two towards Marquez that may be Pacquiao rounds.

They're perfect opponents for each other. This one goes the distance and once again Manny pulls out a close decision victory.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

So I heard today that Manny said that he is willing to do all the drug tests and take less than 50% of the money in order to fight Floyd. Just more hot air or is it actually going to happen May/June next year?

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

anyone else think Adalaide Byrd as a judge is a win for Marquez? She was the only one to score the Rios (Bob Arum) v Abril fight correctly and has a pretty solid record.

111-117 -Byrd
116-112 -Roth
116-112 -Trowbridge

Hopkins and that 119-109 trout cotto score was ridic tho

Steve Weisfeld receiving lots of praise, seems pretty solid.

You seriously think that fight was fixed? Bradley has done nothing since then and Pacquiao is probably going to fight Rios if he wins. When you let 80-year olds judge fights bad scores happen.

Manny is willing to take all the drug tests and give Mayweather 55% of the purse.

That being said, Mayweather is probably going to fight Guerrero in May and Pac is probably going to fight Rios in April.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

yea definitely. I caught up on the 24/7s tonight and watched this really great documentary on HBOgo called "Klitscho" about the brothers obviously. Definitely in the boxing mood for Saturday night now. The undercard is kind of lame though. I am a big fan of Fortuna though, I really think he has a future; at least it seems that way from the very impressive friday night fights he has been in on espn

Oh yeah you're right about that the UFC card this weekend is really really epic. 3 legitimately great fights in theory. I thought maybe that was next weekend

I cannot remember the last time BJ Penn was fighting fourth on the card!

For you UFC haters, if the boxing undercard was any good we would be possibly discussing those matchups.

Yea I think it's pretty silly when people make it an either/or question. Pretty obvious that you can appreciate both sports for what they are.

I absolutely think it was a fixed fight.
If it was close then maybe it could be explained another way, but it wasn't.

I think i saw a poll where 96% of the voters saw the fight for Pac. And that includes people that hate him (like Mayweather fans).

From boxrec i find this info about how the press-row scored it.

"Among the experts above, 120 scored the bout for Pacquiao, 1 scored the bout a draw, and 1 scored the bout for Bradley.
None of the scores for Pacquiao was offered by Philippine media.
The draw score and the score for Bradley were not provided by American media."

It shouldn't be possible for three veteran judges (who mostly get their decisions correct) to come up with this score.

I think Bob Arum overestimated the future interest in bradley. He said after the fight that "I'm gonna make so much money on the rematch".
The same guy told Marquez "it's only business" after he got screwed out of a decision.

The fans turned on Bradley and have little interest in him. That's why we see Marquez-Pac and in the future Rios-Pac.

And yeah. Just look at Rios-Abril for a similar lol-decision involving top-rank. And that's just in recent times.
