He's expected to survive

Quote:
The bullet apparently struck him in the jaw but exited his head and lodged in his right shoulder and fractured two vertebrae, Torres said. The doctor said the boxer, who was trailed by drug and alcohol problems during a career that included some high-profile bouts, could be paralyzed from the shooting.

Situation worsened over night with a heart attack. On life support, brain dead feared. Apparently mother to determine plug pulling.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Macho vs. Edwin Rosario would be best

One doc said that there is sufficient brain activity to not declare him brain dead. The article is in Spanish. Got it through Wikipedia. Prob only a matter of time before they pull the plug though.

1997. He knocked out Sugar Ray Leonard in the fifth. Pretty good fight.

There would be no way back for Audley if he lost to Flintoff.

Even Audley could not blag his way out of that one ..

tomorrow is gonna be great, all you brits get Hatton fighting a surprisingly legitimate opponent and we get to see Berto-Guerrero which is undoubtedly going to be entertaining as hell

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I imagine if Hatton does win, his next opponent will be Amir Khan. Now that could be an interesting match. A fast fighter with no chin against a not-so-fast fighter with a strong chin.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

By all means Hatton is not a cert to win tonight.

OK .. Senchenko was turned over my Pauli but Pauli is vastly improved at 147 these days and Hatton was never great at 147.

Word has it that Senchenko is not great on the inside and Hatton will wear him down with body shots etc but im not so sure.

I can see Hatton walking onto a few shots and there is a small part of me that thinks Hatton will gas around the 7th and just might get stopped in the later rounds.

Saying that .. Hatton could blow him away within 5 rounds ... i hope the latter is true.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I question Hatton's endurance coming off of such a long layoff. It was a huge strength of his before his layoff. But after 3+ years away from the sport, can he go the full 12 or will he wear down quickly? Generally, comebacks are epic fails. However, Hatton is young enough where he can pull it off.

Hatton picked a pretty suitable fighter to come back against. Senchenko has a good record, but his wins have been nearly all cream puffs. He has a suspect chin (he got TKOed by Malinaggi ffs) and Hatton is a bully type fighter. If he can get in close and stay active while there, he might just blow Senchenko away early. But if this fight goes deep, I have a feeling that Hatton will run out of gas and it'll be Senchenko's fight to lose.

It is a ten rounder

Also it is all guess work, even for those that have been in the gym with him

Fight night ,over 10 rounds with 8oz gloves is so different from sparring etc.Can he still take a punch? Is his timing out?Has his reflexes gone?etc etc

All the above normally goes when you have been out of the ring for a while, or when you get old

There was a good docu on channel 5 (UK) this week about Hatton and his new trainer. They looked pretty fired up for this one

Hatton's sparring has confirmed he'll be sticking with his tried and tested method of defence.
