Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

could be fun to see Garcia i suppose. But he's going to crush his opponent.
Lara Martirosyan should be very good.

I'm watching showtime for sure. Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno vs. Abner Mares. As good as it gets.

Yep, 50/50 fight between two elite level guys. It's a shame we won't get to see the winner against Donaire or Rigondeaux because of the Top Rank/Golden Boy feud.

Mariusz Wach has the biggest chin I've ever seen. (probably not a good thing)

Physically, Wach doesn't appear to be in great shape. Probably <5 rounds.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

close fight here in the HBO main event, Lara could be behind but he seems to be coming on heading into the 8th

Martisoyan got cut accidental headbutt and they had to stop it in the 9th...86-85 Marti, 87-84 Lara and 86-86 from the last judge who had the last 26 second round a draw so fight's a draw

sounds about right, rematch will happen I imagine

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I thought lara clearly won the last five rounds of that fight in person as he landed at least four to five straight lefts to martisoya's face while his opponent didn't land anything outside of one power strike those rounds. Martisoya was not the same after that blatant low blow he was given in the 3rd.

Crowd was decidedly for martisoya though.

Probably many Armenians there

I read a fictional novel called A Naked Singularity. It was absolutely fantastic and the main character is a big bixing fan so it often went to a side story about the history of Wilfred Benitez. The author Oscar de la Pava is obviously a big fan of the sport.

Thanks for the link. I had just finished reading War Baby by Kevin Mitchell the other day and hadn't heard of McClellan before that (I'm a hugely casual boxing fan).
