Sweeeeeeeeeet good fight for Bad Chad
Awesome news. Looks like Lucian Bute/Chad Dawson are on a collision course if they win their next couple of fights.

Floyd is like the Phil Hellmuth of boxing imo. Big mouth personality who is good at his craft.
It's a joy to see someone that good at anything. But not for long. With Floyd, it feels more like a fact. You may be amazed and acknowledge it, but then you move on and would like to see an interesting fight. Since Floyd is so unwilling to put himself out there, there's a good chance you won't get it. Whatever excitement comes into the ring is what his opponent brings with him and will try to chase Floyd down with, and fail.

In the end Floyd wins, and the whole thing feels a bit anticlimactic.

There's a reason Floyd always needs someone else's fame or reputation for exciting fights to bring in the really big money, despite him having been such a good fighter for so long. He's too boring by himself.

He didn't used to be that way. I think his brittle hands forced him to become more conservative. However, when Floyd has to turn it loose and be aggressive, I think he has the ability to do it. He just doesn't want to put himself at risk more than neccesary (for injury reasons and health reasons). Fans may hate it, but it is what it is.

Anyone know what the undercard is for Roy Jones vs. BHop I can't find it anywhere online. Wondering if I should get ringside for this, but don't want to waste my time to just see this fight.

I'd be shocked/impressed if there's a single competitive fight featuring at least 1 name fighter on that undercard.

Also, how the **** are there no signed fights between the top 135-140 guys? It's sick. If only there was one promotion like the UFC. Sigh.

I was going to take the 5 to 1 on Clottey but I changed my mind after I saw this video of Manny Pacquiao:

Highlights of Clottey's last fight, a split decision loss to Miguel Cotto.

Reading up on him, he seems to have quirky things happen in his biggest fights.

His three losses are 1) a DQ loss to Carlos Baldomir in his first title fight (leading in the 10th docked 2 pts for headbutt, then dq'ed for another one) 2) losing to Antonio Margarito (broke his hand in the 4th round), and 3) Cotto.

He's the last person to fight Diego Corrales, winning in dominant fashion (100-87, 98-89, 97-90), and he won his current IBF title from Zab Judah (which can be seen in full here)

The Baldomir fight is also on YouTube in 4 parts. It was from Nov. of 1999.

I've seen Clottey fight Zab Judah. Seems to be a really upright fighter. Doesn't trade blows. Rather he waits for his opponent to throw then fires back. If Pac can throw and turn Clottey left and right afterward, it's gonna be smooth sailing for Pacman.

I think Pac by a wide UD. Clottey has a great chin (only been knocked down once in his entire career).

Fight Night Round 4 projects Clottey by KO in the 11th round. Pac gets knocked down in the 9th, 10th and finally in the 11th is the KO.

Clottey was ahead on all scorecards.

Clottey's a worthy opponent but if Pac is even close to his A game, I can't see anything but a UD for Pac. Still, stranger things have happened.

no one thinks hes going to beat Clottey into submission ?

i give pacman the win 6-8 rounds , he will be just too fast and he has power to hurt him IMO.

Clottey has a great chin and has only been down once afaik (against Cotto) in his entire career.

I can see Pacquiao winning by fight stoppage in the later rounds. Honestly, I can't see this fight being particularly competitive. Clottey is a good fighter, but he's too slow to keep up with Pacquiao. Pac will hit and then turn and move to the left or right. Just as Clottey resets his feet, Pac will hit him again. Rinse and repeat. Clottey doesn't really trade. He blocks and then punches, sort of like Winky Wright and that won't work against a guy as fast as Pac. Pacquiao might not get through Clottey's guard on every punch but it will wear him down.

I can't see anybody thinking that Clottey will win this fight.

I mean people probably said the same thing about Buster Douglas against Mike Tyson, but that was a freak occurrence. Clottey obv more likely to beat Pac than Douglas was to beat Tyson.
