Dawson is doing ****.

Not gonna win this fight by picking your spots. Too far behind to play passive.

Dawson will never be aggressive enough to be a top p4p fighter. He also doesn't have the heart.

very uncharacteristic fighting of Ward. He's absolutely fantastic and not safety first in the slightest.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Dawson. All the talent, no heart. Just like Devon Alexander.

Andre Ward is a superstar. No idea who he can fight though. Martinez would be a bloodbath. He's better than him and a lot bigger.
Ward would stop Froch if he fought like this (with a tiny chance Froch lands and stops Ward).
Dirrell? Same story as Dawson. No heart.

I guess Dawson could been a little drained from the severe cut. Who knows.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

You don't see that much ...

Ref "Shall I stop it"

Dawson "yeah stop it"

Damn I would go as far to say in 20 years of watching and doing boxing I have never seen that before

Wow. He DID give up.

I can't believe that a professional boxer just did that. Pathetic.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I've seen fighters give up in the past, but they were on the stool in-between rounds.

Never have I seen this happen.

Wow.

the customary way to quit mid round is to fail to answer the question. that happens all the time

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I think it's fair to quit like that if he feels he's done. Too many champs slurring around like drunks from taking too much punishment.
There's no tapout in boxing.

It speaks volumes of his "heart" compared to other champs, but it's definitely not a "pussy move".

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Dawson sucked, but Ward has a legitimate case to be the #1 p4p fighter in the world today, imo. I still put Floyd #1, but in light of Manny's recent lack luster performances, I have Ward at #2.

Next weekend is going to be fun.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Wards only problem is both smw and lhw is lacking currently.
Only smw he hasn't beaten of note is Andre Dirrell who faked a braininjury in order not to fight him, and Bute that got KTFO by Froch.

Lhw Dawson is probably the best by a decent margin despite losing to Pascal. (Pascal is mediocre to be honest)
Had some hopes of Sillakh being a future superstar, and he may become one, but right now he's got a lot of rebuilding to do.

Martinez is tiny.
Chavez have little reason to fight Ward if he beats Martinez.

actually smw is quite decent, but he's cleared it out.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Ward is awesome. I hope he doesn't move up in weight because there is no money there, unless there is someone I'm not thinking of. Maybe Calzaghe comes off his coke bender err retirement. Anyway Ward deserves to be considered at least p4p #2 behind Mayweather. I see HBO pushing for him to fight Martinez or Chavez at a catch weight or in Chavez's case maybe at 168. Heck maybe he fights Golovtkin (sp?). No money in that really but sure would be good for us.
