Had more to do with Lee being a complete chump IMO

Can't wait for Martinez to knock him out.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

i had it 3-2 lee going into the 6th.

he won the 1st/2nd/5th rounds imo. first 2 pretty convincingly, controlled the tempo with his jab and didn't take many shots. (jcc had like 8 punches thrown after 1?) i gave him the 5th even tho he didn't land the harder shots. for the first 1.5mins chavez wasn't really throwing anything, and was hotdogging instead of fighting. i believe lampley even mentioned how lee was scoring during that period.

lee was rocked from round 3 on, and didn't seem to have the power to hurt jcc. he went away from jabbing and keeping the fight on the outside to just trading, which was a mistake. i also think the ring was too small for lee, it was a mistake to agree to that size.

it was entertaining, though. jcc's body blows are ridiculous.

First two went to Lee without question, disagree on the 5th but that one was a lot closer imo.

so the top two highest paid athletes are boxers and people like Bob Arum are still trying their hardest to kill the sport

It's kind of incredible how high Woods is considering how crap he's been lately.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

As Vael says (in his edit), it is very top heavy for boxing. There is a small pool of boxers making huge money, and then it pretty much falls off into a meager wage, comparing with other sports.

But if you can get there, HUGE.

The other two boxers in the top 100 are Wlad Klitschko and Miguel Cotto.

What about Beckham ??

Commercially ... that guy knows what hes doing, he hardly plays any decent football anymore and still manages to pull in the money..

To still be the top football earner at his age shows hes been given to shrewd advice over the years.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

He's done very well indeed. Especially when you consider that he wasn't even that good at his peak. Obviously he was very good but I don't think he was ever considered to be among the top 5 in the world at any point in his career.

Why does Christiano Ronaldo earn more than Messi? That should not happen.

In five years time will there be any boxers on the list? Presumably Pac and Floyd will have retired or be irrelevant, I guess the only possible ones are Canelo and JCC jnr.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

It must be nice making 85 million for only 2 fights. Pretty much only has to train 2 months per fight, so he's only "working" 4 months in the whole year and still the highest paid athlete and doing it without any endorsements. damn...

Manny making tons of money too.

If they ever fight each other, then the gap between them and the other athletes would be huge.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

When MMA fighters can make Floyd/Pac money, the UFC will split into UFC and UFA and then UFC, UFA, IFC, and IFO or some other nonsense.

Then we'll get plenty of "MMA is dead, Ultimate Bum Shockfights 4 LIFE!!!" posts.
