Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

yea he scored it 116-112 bradley lmfao

and yea manny clearly has much more power which is why i only gave bradley 1 round, I thought most of those so called "coinflips" were won by manny because punches landed were similar but he was more powerful..but really i need to watch it again so i can understand why everyone is giving bradley rounds 8-12

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Cuban olympic legend Teofilo Stevenson dies at 60. He won three gold medals between 1972 and 1980. People will always wonder what would have happened if he had been allowed to turn pro, he would have been fighting in the era of Ali, Frazier, Foreman and Norton.

It's a similar story to the Cuban Felix Savon who could have been fighting in the era of Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe.

Savon, Stevenson and Lazlo Pap are the only boxers to win three gold medals. But if Guillermo Rigondeaux hadn't managed to defect then he would almost certainly have three at this point and would be the heavy favourite to win gold in London.

All 3 judges gave Bradley round 7, where he was outlanded 29-9. And Bradley has no power, so he's not one of those "get hit twice to hit you once" kinda dudes.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Alright what is all this **** on bradley's Facebook page? Is it a hoax or is he really the best dude of all time?

-Claims he reviewed tape 10 times and is giving belt back to Pac
-Claims Arum is a slimy grease ball that wouldn't let him give it back to Pac so he has already left top rank

Ok just read more of the page, obviously has to be a hoax, I was hoping thought it wasn't.

Most likely he would have gotten pummeled.

In this case, golds in 3 consecutive Olympics sounds a lot more impressive than it actually is.

The only way a fighter gets to win multiple Olympic golds is by hanging on to his amateur status and fighting guys much younger and less experienced than him. That doesn't exactly prepare you for the murderers row of 1970s professional heavyweights.

Make him sign some sort of "at your own risk" form and release to general population.

isn't the olympics like 3 rounds of boxing, and you get to wear a helmet?

I obviously meant he would turn pro sometime after winning his first gold and would go from there, gaining the same professional development from his early 20s on like Ali etc. I suppose it is unlikely that he would've been a great, but it would have been interesting finding out.

You're right about the Cubans in the olympics though, it's quite often men against boys when it comes to experience.

Amateur boxing today is very different to how it was in the 70s, then there were no head-guards and the scoring wasn't based purely on punches landed - it was basically a shorter form of professional boxing.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Canelo vs Victor Ortiz announced for September (assuming Ortiz wins his next fight). I didn't think they would be able to find a replacement as good as Paul Williams but this is so much better in my opinion.

Monroe vs Quigg a technical draw after a clash of heads. Monroe has a horrific cut that has split his eyebrow.
