Bute got assraped in a major way. Took tons of punishment. He definitely have some heart.

But i fear this may be very detrimental to his career. This kind of punishment is hard to recover from mentally.
Not saying hes a fraud. Hes very good. But this was brutal.

Bute clapping Froch at the end. Nice touch.

Cobra dominant.

Who next?

ye thats the question.

Rematch with Ward feels kind of unwarranted. Froch got schooled.
Kessler maybe? Not sure if that's what Kessler want to do though. He won the first fight fair and square and can probably get just as much money fighting someone else.

Wow so I missed it? Oh well I am glad Froch destroyed Bute. A few years hearing HBO hype up Bute as the best in his division while ignoring all the top class fighters because they were on Showtime actually fighting each other was really annoying. Glad to see Froch get a quality win. I wonder if this means Andre Ward will actually end up fighting Chad Dawson, since there is no reason to fight a guy Froch KO'd in 5.

I'm mad that Bute got exposed as a fraud. Oh well at least we still have GSP.

Goldbrug: What do you suppose that means
Rogan: I think it's when you talk about gay marriage.

Well done Froch, actually good too see him throw a ton of punches instead of his normal slow almost labouring style .. he should let his punches go more often because he looked good last night.

I see a re-match with Kessler tbh .. it would be good for Froch to avenge one of his defeats.

A couple of things ...

The ref did not know what he was doing .. where do they get these refs from, surely they can find a decent ref for such a fight ?

and ... what the hell was Eddie Hearn doing by jumping in the ring before the fight was over ... he could have got his fighter disqualified !! ... rather unprofessional if you ask me.

The ref put his hands up like he was signaling he's stopping the fight. I thought he called a TKO, as did Froch and the whole stadium, so I could understand why Eddie Hearn entered the ring in excitement.

Good thing the referee from the Kirkland-Molina fight wasn't on duty.

Just re-watched Froch. Found it funny how the ref was giving Bute the count whilst the ropes were holding him up...

Losing to one of the best fighters in the world doesn't make you a fraud. If you fight the best sometimes you lose.

I have run out of words to describe how much I respect Froch.

Well it wasn't just losing. He got embarrassed and humiliated. Not sure where he goes from here.

Fairly sure there was a rematch clause in the contract that said they have to fight in Canada if bute loses

I wouldn't want a rematch if I was Bootay

I can't see why Bute would do a rematch. It's better for him to rebuild and beat some other contenders and then get a rematch with Froch.

He's not mentally prepared to go in there with Froch again. If Cotto had gone in with Margarito in an immediate rematch he would have gotten stomped again.

I would still be very interested to see Bute against the likes of Ward, Kessler and other 168 and 175 guys. If they can't walk through his punches like Froch could then they could be in some trouble. Also, Ward can't punch so Bute's dodgy chin doesn't really matter too much in that fight.

Man, what is the life expectancy of the average fighter?
SE Boxing Thread (not waiting for PBF v. Pac II) Quote

Not as long as normal obviously maybe somewhere in the 60s? And that's speculating on the avg "career fighter". Who knows, probably studies on it.

But Tapia exceeded his life expectancy by quite some years. Most fighters didn't live as rough as he did.

I was about 15 years old when I tagged along with my dad and uncle to the Great Western Forum in Inglewood to see Marco Antonio Barrera-Kennedy McKinney. Johnny had an early knock out on the undercard. We were able to meet him at the end of the night. Talked and took some pictures with him. Great guy. Fast forward almost 10 years later. When he first released his book he had a book signing at the Team L.A. store in Universal City Walk. I went to it. As he signed the book, I mentioned to him I had met him before. He asked where at? At the Great Western Forum I told him. He looked at me and said Barrera-Mckinney. You were that kid I talked and took pictures with afterwards. You were there with your dad and uncle, right? I was shocked he remembered. I said yeah that was me. He than asked how my dad and uncle are doing? I told him there not. There both dead. He looked surprised and said sorry to hear that. Without thinking I responded with it was there time to go, I guess. Without hesitation Johnny said I can’t wait till my day comes. Why? I asked him. Cuz I wanna see my mom he said.
