If Pac becomes president he will obviously be OK. I have my doubts tho, especially if he were to lose against Mayweather.

I'd say it's 95% certain Floyd will go broke unless he wise up and/or finds some lucrative sideincome.
Maybe 80% for Pac?
there is no way pacman goes broke. he is a congressman and will be at the very least, a senator. Do you know how much pork barrel money those ****s stash?

95% too low on mayweather going broke. I'd say it's ~99.3%

Pacman ~22%

Also, change thread title.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, yes it's very good, but any book/article title with "The Last..." should be permabanned. As bad as -gate. Hell, the first Chavez-Taylor fight was a month after Douglas-Tyson.

Maybe I'm being unfair though, not sure.
Unfair, IMO, tho you raise valid points. Ali was Ali, he did want he wanted & much of it went against convention. Dundee wisely gave him lots of room to be himself, couldn't have gone any other way.

The only member of Ali's entourage to bail when Ali started to noticeably decline was Ferdie Pacheco in '77, I believe after the Shavers fight. Very hard to leave the most famous man in the world's inner circle, and Angie prolly told himself that he could protect Ali better than anyone else, tho obv he should've stopped the Holmes fight earlier if not prevent it from happening at all. But Ali needed the money and was addicted to the limelight, sadly common among boxers, tho Ali's level of fame will never be approached.

Angelo would've been a HOFer if Ali had never been born, based on his work with Leonard. RIP

I have no idea how much a congressman makes in the Philippines, no.

I'd guess Mannys popularity will go down once he retires.

IT is with regret that I feel I have to issue this statement to clarify certain matters, following an unfortunate incident that occurred on Saturday night (February 18) in Munich, Germany at the Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora post-fight press conference.

I was in Munich to watch the WBC world heavyweight title bout between Klitschko and Chisora and provide punditry for BoxNation, and accredited as such.

During the post-fight press conference, I was stood at the back of the room. It wasn't until Bernd Bonte said my name and involved me in the press conference that I commented. I was then happy to banter back and forth with Bonte and Klitschko, keen to ascertain whether he (Vitali) would stay true to his word and reiterate his desire to do what his younger brother couldn't do - knock me out. I felt as though the public would want to hear more information about this potential bout and that we could both start beating the drum ahead of a showdown later this year.

However, at this point Chisora began firing insults at me from his position on the top table. In fact, he has recently made a habit of saying derogatory things about me in the press.

Moments before declaring he wanted to go face-to-face with me, Chisora assured the gathered media that he would give me 'two slaps'. Chisora had, of course, already been shrouded in controversy that weekend.

Despite this, Chisora climbed down from the top table, removed his robe and then walked towards me, entourage in tow, in an aggressive manner. I held my ground, but, unfortunately, he caused a serious disturbance to occur, something which threatened to damage the reputation of the sport we both love.

Regrettably, some members of his entourage also encouraged the chaos. Nevertheless, Chisora and I soon separated, brushed ourselves down and moved in opposite directions. The confrontation then reignited, however, and both Don Charles and Adam Booth became involved in the mess. Adam suffered a cut to the head.

Thankfully, it didn't take long for the ruckus to again settle down. It was then that I heard Chisora say he planned to 'shoot me dead'.

I decided to leave the venue and return to my hotel, a move which I hoped would diffuse the situation. However, Chisora's team were staying at the same hotel as me and, in light of the threats Chisora had made in front of the world's media, it seemed far more appropriate for me and Adam to leave the hotel as quickly as possible.

Consequently, I left Munich on an earlier flight on Sunday morning and have been thinking about what happened ever since, as well as replaying the incident many times via YouTube. It goes without saying, I am bitterly disappointed to have been a part of what transpired on Saturday evening.

I realise I am no angel - and don't mind a bit of professional trash-talk to help raise boxing's profile - but, during my 21 years in the sport, I have never been involved in, or even witnessed, such a serious fracas. If requested, I shall happily assist the boxing authorities with any investigation they wish to launch and, ultimately, hope that all lessons learned from this incident will be implemented.

I also hope Dereck Chisora is able to learn from his mistakes this past weekend, right the wrongs and then go on to fulfil his potential in the boxing ring.

He must be pissing himself that Chisora has had to spend all this time in the station whilst he got away.

I think Haye forgot to mention the bit about him smashing Chisora in the head with a bottle.

David Hayes statement is beyond absurd since there's videoproof of what exactly happened.

Loved this bit "The confrontation then reignited, however, and both Don Charles and Adam Booth became involved in the mess. Adam suffered a cut to the head."

Yeah poor Adam Booth that got hit by YOU in the head by a camera tripod.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

That statement is hilarious and it was so obviously not written by David Haye. Imagine Haye saying: "Thankfully, it didn't take long for the ruckus to again settle down."

I think the bottle thing was probably a mistake. It looked like he had the bottle in his clenched fist and in the heat of the moment probably forgot it was there and threw the punch. I'm surprised he didn't suffer some nasty cuts to his own hand.

Chisora took the shots well though, it looked like a pretty clean left-right combo. A bit like Larry Donald against Riiddick Bowe:

That looks like a great combo but how does he not hurt him more with two pretty clean shots?

If Hendo did that the dude would be seeing pink elephants.

Yeah I've always heard that the press conference was a lot better than the actual fight.

Who is Hendo? Whoever he is, I doubt he can hit harder than Big Daddy Bowe.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

That last punch was nasty. I used to watch a bit of UFC quite a few years ago. If the likes of Royce Gracie and Marco Ruas were around now would they be near the top, or has the sport moved on from there?

As a huge rugby fan I have been following SBW's boxing career, he should fight Tua that would be huge in NZ.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Royce would not even be good enough to fight in the ufc today tbh. It's not really fair to say though as his training would probably be different if he fought today, but if you just took the 1993 Royce and put him into a time machine he would not cut it.

Yeh Royce would be killed now, even at the top of his game. Everyone is just so good at every discipline, whereas he only ever had 1 elite skill, which no-one knew how to counter at the time.

Doesn't take anything away from him though, the way he completely destroyed everyone at the beginning is inspiring.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I see Carl Froch is gonna be investigated for admitting to keeping a fight going another round so his friends and family could collect on a bet. He says it's not illegal which it probably isn't (not clear on the rules here) but why on earth would you admit to something like this in public. I think Haye did something similar against Fraudley. People are so stupid.

Yeh Haye backtracked pretty quickly when they started talking about that so I guess it must be against BBBC rules, not sure it could be illegal though.

I cannot go into the specific details at the moment as quite rightly the British Boxing Board of Control will be investigating this matter and also the altercation that took place between David Haye and myself where I was struck by a bottle.

Despite all of this, the bottom line is, I have let my family, my team and worst of all the sport I love down. I acknowledge that my actions were totally unprofessional, with or without provocation. Now, with a cool head and the benefit of hindsight, my actions at the weekend were regrettable to say the least and I am deeply embarrassed at the scenes reported in the media.

I acknowledge that I have a duty as a professional boxer to conduct myself properly at all times, especially with boxing being a sport of controlled aggression. I have let lots of people down on Saturday night, including myself, and for that I am truly sorry.

In Munich I fully cooperated with the German authorities and as a result I was released without charge.

I will be making no further comment at this stage and will wait for any formal hearing to take place.
lol. I guess this incident meant a lot of work for some pr-firms.
