Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Did anyone catch the 4th edition of "On Freddie Roach"? I can't be 100% sure but when he was talking about Manny and how much time he had left at his level and Freddie even said something like a year and how there's always young kids coming up, etc. I don't even want PBF vs Manny if it's not going to be this year when they are near the top of their game. Really sucks this fight didn't happen (obv).

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

@FloydMayweather
Floyd Mayweather
Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise.

Getting kind of sick of Floyd. He's obviously correct but wtf is there to cry about? Always a chip on his shoulder.

It's unfortunate hes as mesmerizing (to me, no howmoe) in the ring as he is or i would probably join the hatewagon in this thread.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

He will not stop until the whole of Asia hates him.

Seriously though is he saying black players are discriminated against in the NBA? I don't know much about basketball but 9/10 of the players I could name would be black.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

hes just a ****ing ******. he always try to spin the "black people not appreciated" stuff, always has. The reason he never made money was because he was black etc. Now hes the biggest draw in the sport and he keeps spouting this ****.

Sorry but if you stick out you will get attention. Just like Tiger Woods in golf and if there's ever a white sprinter, black swimmer or Asian polevaulter it will get attention.

Not to mention the story of Lin is quite awesome, even for me as a european who never watch NBA.

Dunno. It just rubs me the wrong way. Stfu Floyd, por favor.

^^couldn't agree more, my level of hate for Floyd outside the ring is the same as my level of appreciation for him inside of it, and both are very high

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Mayweather is a loudmouth. The Lin story is not so much about race as it is about the underdog coming out of nowhere and playing above everyone's (in this case EVERYONE) expectation.

Think Kurt Warner. Or Rudy (Football). People keep touting similarities to Tim Tebow but if he resembles anyone, it would be Eli Manning. Both of them have played above their expectations. Both are very mild-mannered, almost meekish.

Most black players who have those stats are multi-millionaire who were highly touted, high-draft picks.

Yay, get to watch Canelo smack around Mosley for 12 rounds and Mayweather throw pitty-pat jab at Cotto for another 12. Two lopsided unanimous decisions.

At least the fights won't end early.

mayweather is not right about lin. Carmelo anthony is a big ball hog. Knicks are unbeaten w lin. Time will tell for how long.

Yeah he is (it just doesn't mean what he thinks it means).

Lin's story is awesome because of a few things, not least of which is that he's Asian AND recognizably so (as opposed to people of Asian heritage who look "white".

Mayweather thinks this means people are just biased against black athletes who are awesome but he doesn't realize it works that way whenever someone looks different than that sports main stars. Floyd's memory is just blocking out Tiger or the WIlliams sisters, but don't worry, I'm sure he'll come around...

I want to go see the mayweather-cotto fight but tickets in the nosebleed are above 500 already and I don't think that's going to happen.

Watching Mayweather outcard Pac in 2013 is going to be the saddest 48 minutes of boxing ever. Up there with Ali-Holmes imo

possible, or it could just be the fact that he thinks he is the only one that should ever be in the limelight and since he is actually fighting in a few months thinks we should all be on money's nuts

Brandon Rios vs. Gamboa confirmed for April 14th. Should be a sweet fight. I like Gamboa a lot, and I hope he wins, but I think Rios' size and restlessness will be too much for Gamboa.

I might actually bother watching this fight now...so job done I guess.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

haha. I think Chisora is a bum, but i gotta thank him for doing that.

I'm a big Klitschkofan, but the problem is not how tHEY fight it's that none of their opponents seem to care.
Chisora slapping Klitschko is the best thing that could have happened for this fight.

No fair yo.

I think vitali has stopped 6/8opponents in title fights since his comeback, and other than pinkytoe haye i think wlad has stopped his last 5 or something.
Doesnt mean the fights have been exciting or anything, but still.

Hopefully this one will be brutal though. We all know vitali can be alot of fun when his opponent is game. Still think his fight with lennox is one of the best hw title fights of the last 10 years.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Not the brightest thing Delboy has done .... he may just pay for that a little in the ring.

Got to hand it to Vitali .. he took it and did not create a fuss ...

Lets hope Chisora goes in there and has a right go ..which im sure he will do .. just hope it dont turn into a long one sided beating for 9 rounds or so.
