maybe, but the vast majority of boxers with brains and killer instinct lay Ortiz flat on his back like Mayweather did.

keep your hands up or you're going to get KO'd.

The whole headbutt-suckerpunch sequence isn't the realy story here anyways. Let's start talking about Mayweather's continued insistence to avoid fighting anyone who'd be worth watching.

Rather obvious through 3 and a half rounds that Ortiz was severely outclassed. The fact that Mayweather made $35 million for that abortion is beyond disgusting.

The fact that he made $35 million means that a ****load of people thought it was worth watching.

If you want to be in the GOAT discussion for boxing it's about more than winning while technically staying within the rules. Fair or not that is the standard in boxing it's not like everything is uniform like in major team sports. You've got to make the most out of what you do. Sucker punching some bum and taking your money just isn't the stuff legends are made of in that sport.

did u watch that in real time?!! it was so quick it wasn't a sucker punch

that **** was just quickness. and u jump on it.. he did the right thing
he offered him a rematch.. and ortiz will still get crushed

LOL at people calling it a straight out sucker punch

after u tap gloves both fighters goes back to fighting... it wasn't like they tapped and immediately he went for the punch... he gave him a second..

floyed tapped gloves... saw ortiz not paying attention... and went for the kill.. like any smooth mother ****er will

seems my post was deleted.

Ortiz or anyone else expecting Mayweather to have some class is hoping for a bit too much imo.

Ortiz should have been expecting Mayweather to try knock his head off and kept his hands up.

when someone is trying to headbutt you in the face and you take any opportunity to KO him, i will applaud you and i am not a fan of Mayweather by any means.

should have asked him "hey Victor, is it ok if I start hitting you now?"

4. seriously, cortez again, i can't believe how terrible he was.
The ref looked the worst by far. And it's not Cortez's first time ****ing up in a big fight; not a surprise at all.

Ortiz's headbutt was BLATANT....It's boxing 101 that if you get cheapshot, especially a blatant cheap shot, you come back right away...That's what was in Floyd's head instinctually.

He probably would've thrown an elbow, a nut shot, or a headbutt of his own. But then Ortiz tries to apologize over and over 1 second after a blatant headbutt cuz he was getting frustrated? GTFO here. Floyd's move obviously wasn't 'classy'...but it wasn't a move like tyson where u bite someones ear off cuz ur frustrated and wanna get out of the fight.

Also, fwiw...I'm extremely confident Floyd would've had a 'clean' knockout in the next few rounds. Floyd was tagging him cleanly over and over again, and ortiz's response to that historically isnt to run away and survive...but to fight it out, which would've gotten himself knocked out eventually. Ortiz throwing the headbutt wasn't a move to help him win the fight. If you do that in the 4th round, it's a move of desperation cuz your getting drowned.

Ortiz only made $2.5 mil, so the chop was obviously rather slanted.

I've just seen the YouTube clip of the Mayweather K.O. Obviously, it is classless but within the rules, they've touched gloves and ready to continue...but what the heck is Ortiz doing? Why did he stop/not have a guard up?

Ortiz didnt have his guard up because he is an unintelligent fighter...Especially when he's not the 'frontrunner' in a fight and controlling it.

If Floyd decided to fight lower ranked opponents every 4 months, would he get 35 mill per fight?

Watching the clips again, this fight looks even more pathetic for all parties involved.

The ref is still by far the nut low. If he did tell the fighters to continue, turning his back on the fight is completely inexcusable (his facial expression following Floyd's shot tells you where his head was at). If you're having a problem at ringside, you stop the fight and fix it, you don't just look the other way.

Floyd gonna Floyd. It was an obviously douche move, but whatever. He's Floyd, if you don't expect him to act like a douche, you didn't do your homework.

Ortiz comes off so much worse on the second viewing. The headbutts are bad, but he was correctly penalized for them. He was getting frustrated and lost his cool. It's no excuse though, and it's hard to take his side after that. Then he has the sack to act like nothing's wrong after he got cheap shot. He couldn't have been more "I'm just here for my check" than if he'd come out and said it.

oh and:
