yea...he can make 50 million + in this fight, and there's no other fight out there atm he could make more than 12 million.

But he's scared, so he doesn't want the fight. You gotta be kidding.

You don't think he's at least somewhat afraid of losing, and tarnishing his perfect record?

What would the line be if this fight ever happened and have they already decided on a weight class? (These little guys jump back and forth between classes pretty easily dont they?)

My beautiful OP is going to hell...

I think this fight happens but if they don't iron out the details quickly enough for the March date, then we're gonna have to wait at least 8 more months while Manny runs for office and settles down for a bit as a politician.

I wonder if Floyd is just doing this to get the date of the fight pushed back. Maybe he doesn't want to fight on March 13th. After all, it did seem abrupt to set up the fight for a date so close to his last fight.

Arum now says that they will agree to more than 3 blood tests. But still doesn't want the USADA to conduct it, and Mayweather's camp will accept no other agency other than the USADA.

Oh, and if this fight doesn't take place, then Pacquaio might fight Malignaggi in March. What an awful fight. I give Malignaggi 2 rounds before he gets knocked out.

lol Malignaggi.

May as well have Pac fight the entire cast of Jersey Shore Diggstown style with Malignaggi at the end.

Malignaggi is good. Gave Cotto an excellent fight where most observers had Paulie winning 5 or 6 rounds. Full fight is on youtube.

lol, Cotto broke Malignaggi's face.

Malignaggi has no shot against Pac.

ya paulie is fun to watch, which is unusual b/c he doesn't knock guys out. That was a great fight; I remember having cotto winning by just 1 or 2 points when I watched it.

Having said that, all the stars would have to align perfectly for paulie to have a chance at beating pacquiao.

Oh, I get it. He's willing to risk NOT making $50 million by changing the rules?

This completely follows his MO. Even if Pacquiao was juicing (which I don't doubt, and I don't doubt Mayweather is either), if he wanted the fight + $50M he would already have accepted the standard rules and signed.

It would be similar to Tiger Woods announcing he's not playing a tournament unless he can choose somebody to measure grooves of everybody's clubs, because he's afraid too many players are using square grooves. Get on with it already.

Really?

Every other detail was agreed to no problems. And quite frankly, not that im an expert on testing, but is a couple pricks at random times leading up to the fight that big of a deal? Especially considering the magnitude of this fight. It's shocking how many people are more pissed at mayweather>pacquiao in regards to this itt.

And that's a terrible analogy.

So Mayweather can dictate the terms of testing? Nevada State Athletic Commission is responsible for the testing, correct? The fight is already a home match for Mayweather, and he has succeeded in the spin war going on in the press now.

Most posters seem to be taking a logical look at how Mayweather is handling this; I'm surprised anybody would defend his attempt to override the testing rules already in place. Does he want 16 oz. gloves and a 25 foot ring too?

And the comparison is appropriate.

For such a big fight, with understandable suspicions about pacquiao in relation to peds, I think it's absolutely logical for floyd to want manny to be tested to the fullest. Floyd has to go through these tests too. It's not like the testing will impede pacquiao's performance whatsoever. It's not like the rules/regulations of the fight itself are changing.

And yes, Mayweather was able to do this because if pacquiao declined it'd be "spinned" against pacquiao...However, it should be.

No, everything else was agreed quickly with no problems. If it was some bull**** thing like glove size or ring size that mayweather was trying to force, I'd totally understand. However, he just wants a level playing field, and his request isn't a big deal at all (unless manny is taking peds)

Conspiracy theory alert:

What are the odds both promoters secretly cooked up this "controversy" just to get free press for the fight? I mean... it is boxing...

Does that even count as a conspiracy theory? I would put it more as very possible explanation. Floyd wants silly testing, Pac says no..Pac says 10 mil penalty if someone fails a test, Floyd says no. They get on Sportscenter alot, then fight..

wouldnt surprise me

I think the whole testing debacle is legitimate, but arum's exaggerations like "the fight is over", "we offered malignaggi the fight" etc. are just blatant attempts to get national media attention with little to no substance.

+1

Calm down people. The fight is going to happen. Everyone involved with the negotiations knows that money talks and b.s walks. This fight happens 200%. It wont happen in March though, thats too soon. Around May at the earliest and possibly in the summer.

It is going to be a circus and we are just seeing it get kicked off.

There is no way that this fight does not happen regardless of what any promoter, trainer, advisor etc says.
