Such a BS decision and Williams & Co knew it too. Just another stain on boxing

Yeah what a joke. I had the fight 8-4 in favor of lara. Guys on hbo were talking about how ******ed it is to have new judges for these big fights. I guess we could take another small logical step and say these new judges are there for corruption. ****ty way to end the night when there were 3 other great fights.

Watched Rios-Antillon. Rios looked decent but lol at him being able to take Pac in the next 2 years. He would get killed. He was getting hit hard by Antillon who doesn't exactly pack a punch.

Granted I was pretty drunk at the time and only half paying attention, but I caught most of the Lara/Williams fight. People started booing after they saw who won, LOL.

The last fight I remember actually shelling money out for was the Mayweather vs De la Hoya fight. After watching this result, it only reinforces my decision. Wake me up if Mayweather ever decides to man-up. That's about the only thing I could see paying for/caring about as far as boxing is concerned anymore.

I heard someplace that early in his career, Joe Louis tended to drop his left and was vunerable to big rights which Schmeling killed him with in their first fight. Louis learned to stop dropping his left. Williams and his trainer evidently think Williams' record shows there's no need for him to learn anything from the Martinez fight. So against another left hander Saturday night Williams still kept his right guard low and got hit pretty much at will with big overhand lefts from Lara. Had Lara just a little more power the fight would have never gone to the travesty of a decision. They should mark the fight on Williams' record as a win by TTD - Travesty Technical Decision.

Williams just didn't look like the fighter we've seen in the past. His normal style of rapid fire huge volume of punches hammering his opponent down like a nail into the canvas degenerated Saturday night into taking power shot after power shot working his way inside where he impotently flailed his arms about until wrapped up in a clinch. Maybe he can find the magic again but he looked exactly like a fighter on the downside of his careeer against Lara. Had Martinez been throwing those overhand lefts, Williams' garbled explanation after the fight for what happened would have been coming from a hospital bed.

Williams should learn one thing from this fight. He should never again fight another world class southpaw. If he fights Martinez again I guess I'll watch. But it's not a fight I want to see. We might as well start televising executions if that fight gets made.

Rios should be a lot of fun to watch as he makes his way through the rest of the lightweight division and then moves up to 140. He has plenty on his plate before thinking about Pacquiao. Who knows though how things might look in 2 or 3 years.

wtf Nicky Cooke?????

****ing shambles.

--

world title fight basically ended in first 10 seconds because Cooke quite clearly either didn't want to fight or he wasn't able to fight.

boxing sucks balls.

Indeed, the earlier two fights were as wet as an otter's pocket. I am hoping this Mitchell fight is a serious improvement.

Lara-Williams judges suspended by the New Jersey State Athletic Board

Boxing News
Quote:
The three judges that worked the Erislandy Lara vs. Paul Williams fight have been suspended by the New Jersey State Athletic Board according to Dan Rafael at ESPN. Williams won the fight by a 12 round majority decision by the scores of 115-114, 116-114 and 114-114.

However, New Jersey commissioner Arron Davis is suspending the judges and will require that they take extra training before they are allowed to continue. The judges met with the New Jersey State Athletic Board and they reviewed the fight round by round and couldn’t find any case of “Bias, fraud, corruption or incapacity on the part of the judges.”

As such, the results of the fight will stand

Maybe they should send them to Judges School before they let them judge a big fight instead of after they blow one.

Walked into the room to watch the replay =( was really looking forward to this fight even though I knew it wouldn't be that competitive.

Round 1 1:47

He was out for a good 5 minutes.

Anything other then banning these guys from boxing is rediculous.
